Sorry, but i have no respect for Porsches... Not the newer ones anyway... We passed a few in my 128bhp 1981 Fiesta at the 'Ring with no problem at all! ok you will say they were not trying but so what!? I was chuffed anyway.;)

My money would be on the Boxster S.

I am taking about showroom cars here.

Would not have all that transmission loss, only 16bhp down, and has awesome brakes as standard.

and when it's wet ? :p

The guy in the boxster would put his roof up.

Must be horrible being a scooby owner... always praying for rain on nice sunny days... Must be quite a miserable, and drab existence, only going for a run in the car when there is sleet, snow, rain, and hailstones on the road... But then again, you are unbeatable in the wet...
ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Veracocha 13 July 2003 12:17 PM

Interestingly enough a standard Boxter (not S) beat a P1 and S3 round the MIRA wet handling circuit when tested by EVO.

Many Humbug Returns 13 July 2003 01:06 PM

Boxter S would win hands down...

...and the owner would have enough time to spare to get the pants down on the bird he pulled in the pitlane, and all before the hapless P1 driver would pull into the pits, totally unnoticed by the girls, who are simply not interested in such mundane looking cars.

Veracocha 13 July 2003 01:49 PM

Don't think that would quite be the case - P1 is a top notch performance car and would at least give the S a good run! In some circumstance it would leave a boxter for dead

Phil M 13 July 2003 04:54 PM

I think it'd be very close

moses 13 July 2003 06:04 PM

p1 would win hands down if given to a local driver and vice versa with the boxster driver.

i once saw a p1 beat a f355 ferrari

ryk 13 July 2003 09:57 PM

ive got a uk turbo and raced a boxster and wiped it out it was a hard race but i won so there

WRX Wannabe 13 July 2003 10:58 PM

My old Ibiza was not far behind the Boxster(only 2 feet :D) so i dont think the Scooby would have ANY problems ;)

P1555ED 13 July 2003 11:09 PM

P1 any day!!

J4CKO 13 July 2003 11:20 PM

I hear Boxster drivers regularly take it around the ring.....

ChrisB 13 July 2003 11:23 PM

I'd have money on John Felstead in his old Sport beating both of them around the 'Ring :D

M3 Evo 13 July 2003 11:35 PM

Very very close run thing, either wet or dry! (as has been said standard boxster beat P1 in the wet in EVO, but thats not exactly to be taken religiously)

Me? I'd take the Boxster if if was sunny....

P1 a very desirable car though!

wilf 14 July 2003 07:53 AM

errr Autocar 2000 mag best handling car edition Boxster S vs P1. P1 was 2 secs a lap quicker round Miravelle. P1 was also rated best car in the wet.

Veracocha 14 July 2003 07:58 AM

Its a subjective thing though. Hardly anyone drives a car to its full potential especially a car like a Boxter S which would take more skill and anticipation.

If we are talking about the ring it really would be down to the driver.

what would scooby do 14 July 2003 08:13 AM

My Type R was faster round the GP circuit at silverstone than the boxter S - just for comparison ;)

I thought the boxter was an MR2 at first LOL :D

Added to say WRX STI Type-R - not a civic shopping car ;)

image doctor 14 July 2003 04:13 PM

No.

CarpetCleaner 14 July 2003 04:32 PM

M coupe destroyed a 22b on Clarkson video

image doctor 14 July 2003 04:33 PM

but you have not got an Mcoupe?

CarpetCleaner 14 July 2003 04:35 PM

same engine and gearbox and similar weight though

image doctor 14 July 2003 04:39 PM

But this thread is not about M power

The only M3 to get is an E30 - the rest are just GT's. The E30 was a proper race car for the road.

Gastro 14 July 2003 06:41 PM

This is a sorry thread of the times on scoobynet :(
'my car is faster than yours' threads are for 14 year olds.

Why can't this BBS just admire two fantastic cars for what they are ?? - rather than trying to score points - 'he was trying' 'but I had 2 passengers' and elsewhere I've seen 'I burnt a porker off'...

For crying out loud - this WAS a BBS full of car enthusiasts - but as time goes on - its drizzled into MAXPOWER league of numb skulls.

Would one beat the other - I don't know - I've owned both - they are both brutually fast in their own ways. The P1 doesnt have the right (stock) brakes - the 'S' doesnt have the outright grunt. Let's call it a draw :) and some mod PLEASE LOCK THIS THREAD.

'nuff said.

Gastro - 'brutually honest' ;)

Mickle 14 July 2003 10:44 PM

LOL at J4CKO - It appears your joke went over everyone's serious heads :D :D :D

moses 14 July 2003 11:56 PM

yeah like i said p1 any day but an evo will whup both their butts wet or dry :D

Glenn_R 15 July 2003 09:51 PM

Just swapped my P1 for a Boxster and all I can say is it takes me an extra 5 mins to get to work each day;)

Mind you it's only the 2.5 and I reckon the Eastbourne Zimmerframe Relay team will probably outrun it in a straight line:D!!

Doesn't 'alf corner tho!!
