Hello,

I have noticed in many threads that when the Max power magazine is refered to people always say......
I borrowed a copy from a lad at the office,
I just had a look "for a laugh" in the news agent.
I wanted the free deamon-tweeks catalogue.
It was on the cofee table at my garrage

No one EVERY buys thier own copy?

Just like porn-mags (Which no-one every buys) it is the biggest selling car-magazie that nobody buys.

Are we ashamed..............

I buy it occaisonally (not every month) because there can be the occaisonal useful article or advert, but I do find it embarrasing to have naked women everywhere - I buy FHM and Maxim for that reason - I don't mind seeing attractive women (Maybe not Max Power!) naked, but I'd like to choose when

Well, I admit that I used to buy it all the time, but last month was the first time I had bought it in aboout a year, and even then it was only for the 860hp Supra in it. After that one though, I don't think I will be buying it again.

I buy Max Power every month I like it, but I'm starting to like REVS more!

Does this make me a bad person ?
I think not

I used to get Perfomance Car every month, and I do miss it, I don't really like CAR it's to stuck up.
and I stopped getting Top Gear coz I was boring

Greggers 28 April 2000 03:38 PM

I can't stand any of them any more - a few years back (when I was a kid... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif ) I used to buy Fast Car, Max Power, Fast Ford, + Performance Ford (betcha can guess which make of car I own!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif ), but now I wouldn't touch any of them with yours....bl00dy pathestic (aside from Fast Car which inflates figures, but is okay)

Chandler,

Have you tried EVO, it has many of the PC team and is a very good successor.

It is dedicated to 'Performance Cars' so none of the usually MPV rubbish. I also find it doesn't insult the intelligence like Max Power etc.

I've subscribed from issue 001 and look forward to it every month.

They also have a very soft spot for Scoobies.

The thing I have noticed about Revs is that there are some quite good atricles spoilt bt "laddism" ie Sorted, monkeeeys, chimps, larged-up etc being substituted for every 5th word.

The did a great article on tyres though.

Fast car is a porn mag with cars in it.
Top gear may as well review fridges and microwaves for all the interest they have in cars.

EVO is Supreme..............

Evo is the best magazine on the market, even if it does have the worst name http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif.

I also read auto express for general motoring.

I have them both on prescription.

I occasionally buy others if there is anything good in them.

EVO is by far the best and the free 2000 calender sits proudly on my desk http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif. As I bet it does on quite a number of the guys on this BBS.

cheers

I got max power a few times but it didn't do it for me http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif so i tried rev's and have every issue.its a greath mag and covers every thing .from the novice,to the petorl head http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

IWatkins 28 April 2000 07:09 PM

Well,

I buy all of them, every month. Always hungry for info.

Max Power, Redline, Fast Car = Worst (but all have useful parts)

Revs = Best of the "lads" mags.

CCC, Evo, Autosport = Required reading

Occasional others, depending on the front cover.

Cheers

Sorry Mr Crisp but Auto Express is complete drivel ,you have to be told . I'm sorry, there is more "in depth" Knowledge on cars in Home and Country . ( not that I read it of course , Oh Sh*t the secrets out http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/redface.gif )buy Car and learn lots of big words like wot I did http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif

I used to buy it when it was about cars. It now seems to be used as a @ank mag substitute for spotty teenagers and has become very sad with ropey dorises draped over alloy wheels and exhausts.

Old editor Nigel Ambrose left Max Power to edit Maxim hence naked lady content of both mags.

Never buy it myself.... but.... 'there is a lad who works for me' who gets it and points out suitable articles to me.

He just had £1,600 of work done to his R5 Turbo and I understand it blew up last week.

Auto Express wise - I need something to read during the week. My evo is normally read in about 24 hours. Have to wait another 30 days http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif for the next copy. Most mags are monthly so I went for a weekly one to keep me going http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif.

I have to agree auto express is not the best on the market but it passes the time and the guys at work are use to seeing it every week. Big trouble if it stopped http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif.

On subscription it costs me about 40 quid a year. Not too bad really http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

cheers
