I have just been doing a bit of maintanence on my car today, checking things over for this weekends TOTB2 test day. The handbrake is now fighting fit for the handling course. :D
I checked the operation of the IC spray and to my horror noticed one was a very gentle mist, the other was a dribble. Thats not good. :o So i took the nozzles off and just using my fingers spun a 1mm drill down the nozzle from the water entry end, this dragged out some crap that was blocking the flow of the water. Refitted them and i now have a proper IC spray pattern throwing plenty of water at the intercooler, eureka. :D:D I live in a soft water area too, so you southern jessies may have more of an issue than me with your calcium enriched water suplies. Got to be worth 10BHP. :D |

Have found that the aquamist nickle plated nozzles do quite a good job of corrossion resistance. Brass nozzles don't last long.
|
these are plastic, it was just crap in the nozzle, not corosion.
It's Top up here James, you are confusing me with a scouser. :D |
PMSL at the thought of JF in a Shell Suit!!! ;);):D:D:D:D
What kind of water do you use John? Tap water? If you use De-Ionised water, I don't suppose this would be a problem? Matt :) |
My I/C spray switch (manual) doesn't seem to work (neither does the automatic for some reason
If I pull the wires out of the manual switch and touch them together it works - just a bit dangerous to do this on the road ;) |
i bet some muppet has swapped the plugs round on your switches. Mine didnt work either when i bought the car because the plugs were in the wrong switches
No need for de-ionised water up here, we have the cleanest water in the UK (plus it would be silly cost when i get through a full tank in 13 miles) |
LOL - 13 miles
I'm still on the original water the car came with... ;) Matt :) |
Just Drive Faster! :D
|
LOL - the new STi uses the spray hardly ever automatically, from what I can make out - not like the old STi where the tank lasted 5 mins of hard use... ;):p:D
Matt :) |
are you sure it does actually have an auto function?
|
I'm not persaonlly convinced but there has been some discussion on the board recently and several people say it certainly has. Mike Wood has apparently confirmed this also.
Perhaps because I don't take mine above 6000 rpm very often/much has something to do with it (no power up there on the standard car) Matt :) |
Thanks for the tip anyway
Les :) |
doesnt the handbrake lock all 4 wheels tho?
|
Not on a TypeRA, it will on a UK turbo.
