anyone got any suggestions??? this is a favour for a mate. its gotta be to pretty quick and be above a 1.4. pretty simple criteria; above 1.4, no saxo's.

zedder123 08 July 2003 10:43 PM

Fiesta Zetec S
Ford Focus 1.6 / 1.8
MG ZR105 (a 1.4 i know but its on a par with the Fiesta)
Toyota Yaris T-Sport

HTH,

Andy

:(

RS Grant 08 July 2003 11:18 PM

You can get a Focus 2.0 ESP for 8k... :D

Other than that, maybe a Civic VTi 3dr/5dr/Coupe. :)

Cheers,
Grant

A mk1 Clio 172 on a W/X plate?

Anonymous bob 09 July 2003 01:39 AM

Could get an MR2 Turbo for that!! 245 bhp stock! Mind you, only got 2 seats and a bit of a hairdresser tag, but will waste a lot of cars! has a decent boot too!

what would scooby do 09 July 2003 08:24 AM

Saab 9-3 Turbo full spec inc air-con,leather, 185bhp, 1999 T plate for less than that :D:D

ALi-B 09 July 2003 11:00 AM

no saxos :D

Bobby Peru 09 July 2003 11:59 AM

Honda civic VTI

Bobby Peru 09 July 2003 12:00 PM

Or an Integra Type R

AlmeraTastic 09 July 2003 12:21 PM

Biased I know but Almera GTi. Great handling, pretty nippy, cheap to run, bullet proof engine and a good late one 99 T can be yours for £5k.

LG John 09 July 2003 12:25 PM

Its a shame cause £8k would get a very nearly new vts which easily qualifies for 'nippy' status :)

turboman786 09 July 2003 12:28 PM

8k....on a saxo......how do you them rolleyes thing.....

ScoobyJawa 09 July 2003 12:34 PM

Yaris T Sport is superb :D Mate has one with a Hiper on it - sounds great, goes and handles well too (not quite up there with my Pug 1.9 but closer to it than a lot of other modern motors).

TurboBoost 09 July 2003 12:58 PM

If we classify nippy as being 0-60 in under 8 seconds then

Both available for around 6k -
306 GTi6/Rallye
Civic 1.6 VTi

Or for a shade over 8k -
Ibiza Cupra 20VT
Clio 172

How old is your mate?

LG John 09 July 2003 01:01 PM

306 GTi6/Rallye
We have a winner IMHO :)

TurboBoost 09 July 2003 01:13 PM

I daresay 2002 model Rover ZR 160s will be 8 grand soon given Rovers horrendous depreciation curves. Probably not bad value if they want a nearly new car, hate French cars, are not worried about image and already have a girlfriend.

God knows who buys them new though, see quite a few on the road but I would have thought most are company cars.

PEE1 09 July 2003 01:22 PM

Accord Type R 0-60 6.1secs 17.2 0-100

the chosen one 09 July 2003 04:34 PM

Dracoro 09 July 2003 05:28 PM

Corrado VR6, porsche 944, integra type r

R1916v 09 July 2003 08:27 PM

theres a 105 zr for 5500 in the garage down my road!

Rich and Mini 09 July 2003 08:43 PM

They're not nippy. They're slow.

Rich :)

the chosen one 09 July 2003 09:14 PM

how hard would it be to find a ek9? heard they're pretty quick for a 1.8:D

zero77 09 July 2003 09:33 PM

Integra Type R - Mine as I'll be selling it soon.

aroadwarrior 09 July 2003 10:03 PM

306 Rallye if you want real speed, Fiesta Zetec S if you want to go round corners and keep up with people in 306 Rallye's. Honestly they are that good! I've had both and regretted selling the Zetec S. Another one will come along as a second car to my Scooby sometime soon :-) (Maybe I will let the missus drive that one!)

aroadwarrior 09 July 2003 10:21 PM

Zetec S would take Type R on any single track road you could show me. As long as it wasn't dead straight!

fatherpierre 09 July 2003 10:23 PM

It's take it on and then lose badly.

Have a word.

MooseRacer 09 July 2003 10:30 PM

LMFAO @ aroadwarrior

The festers are good, but that's as far as it goes.

aroadwarrior 09 July 2003 10:50 PM

Tell that to the Type R I left on my favourite B road!
