As the impreza is frequently used on track days, I realized that an oil temperature gauge would be a wise precaution against engine damage. Two gauges necessitates a gauge pod (I always need some reasons/excuses to justify buying new toys for my car)!

However, installing the pod and the oil temperature gauge + sensor turned out to be a lot more complicated than expected. The 52 mm Greddy gauges didn't fit the OEM pod. The pod didn't come with a front panel. The sensor didn't fit in the cyl 3 oil gallery plug. To fit the sensor, the intercooler and surrounding pipeworks had to be removed. Oh no....

The nice M18x1.5 -> 1/8 NPT adapter was fabricated in bronze by a local shop.
