Well, if your car's the same as mine (UK MY98), and you were doing 3500 in 5th, your licence was probably getting rather warm. 3000 is 80, so maybe 90-95?

I'd guess:

3.5 thousand revs in 4th - 75
4.0 thousand revs in 4th - 85
3.5 thousand revs in 5th - 97
3.0 thousand revs in 3rd - 45

Watch those cameras ....!

It could be the speedo converter wasnt fitted properly and the cable has come out, i think the ECU reads the speed so the car may run a bit odd as well ?

blubs 27 April 2000 10:08 AM

I reckon the speedo had gone all the way round and back to '0', and you were, in fact, pulling 10,000 revs http://geocities.com/r337m0nk3y/net/rollsmile.gif

I had this problem - at the same time the ABS
had shutdown. It was the sensor on the wheel, easily fixed. Is your ABS light on?

Dan Hack 27 April 2000 11:01 AM

Could be a cable plug came loose.

I got my car delivered with the same problem. My dealer did forget to refit the cable which appearantly connects to the speed sensor. Thing is, as my speedometer didn't work, nor did the km-clock, so I don't know how many km's he rode with my car like that.

It's really simple to fix. The sensor is located just behind and below the turbo, on the left side of the engine (on the driveshaft). Watch out not to burn yourself on the turbo, if it's still hot.

One of the mechanics specialists on the board could probably give you a more precise description of the exact location.

Hope this helps.

I don't suppose you were listening to "Stupid Girl" by Garbage? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Sounds like your speedo drive cable has popped out at one end, hopefully the gearbox end as it's a little more easy to get to!

i reckon you are doing your dyno on a truck on the M4. the clue was the "ramp".

and track 6 is "i should be so lucky" by kylie minogue.
