Hi folks,

Just got a Race Technology AP22 performance meter. It measures the g-forces and does 0-60, 0-100, 1/4 mile, bhp, etc etc.

Anyhow, I wanted to know what figures people have got from this. So please (pretty please!) could you post your car type, bhp, any timings you did, and (if possible) your settings too :):)

On my first run, I seemed to pick up an offset of 20.7mph (I mucked it up somewhere), but accounting for that (with a bit of guessing) I got:

MY00 PPP - 0-60 6.2s 0-100 ~15s cdA=0.67 Mass=1350kg (inc me and petrol etc) [Power readings wrong because of speed offset]

You calibrated it yet? You need to set the tilt factor correctly more importantly than anything. Higher tilt means slower times - lower tilt faster. If you don't have access to proper timing eqipment to calibrate it you can use GPS. Its a bit time consuming as you have to download and check if you are closer after each run but its worth it. Below is from a correspondance I had with a helpful bloke at Performance Meters.:D

Basicall get a GPS - set your perfomance meter to continous timing.
Accelerate from stopped to your speed - say 70mph - on the GPS, not your speedo. Sit at the speed on a flat (must be flat) road for aslong as you can - then download the info to your PC. You will see in the Data you accelerate up to 70 odd. If its above 70 then increase the tilt - if its below reduce the tilt.


Have checked mine against Video it is very accurate but only in the correct conditions - hills can make times faster & slower. The bhp thing doesnt seem accurate just the times and G

I dont have a scoob but my Tilt seems around 0.006 TBC.

0-60 seems a bit slow - should be about a second quicker with PPP?

Are these performance meters really that accurate?
How do they work out speed and esp. bhp?

My times were slow compared to the theoretical best because I didn't want to kill my clutch etc :rolleyes:. It was a fairly quick start, changing up at about 6500rpm and not rushing the gearchanges unduly. Hence sensibly quick times :).

Carlos - thanks for the advice... I've put in some figures based on earlier posts on the AP22 on here, but I still need to do the coastdown test. The GPS idea is a good one - I have a GPS receiver, so I'll have a go. Cheers! :)

When accelerating, doesn't the tilt of the car change? or is this all taken into account?

mine was tested today by proper gps at croft race circuit and i managed 4.5 secs

my97wrx with a few choice mods :D

There is correction for tilt, which is what Carlos is referring to above. It has an integral effect on things, i.e. over time you end up with an offset (probably like the mph offset I saw).

I just need to get out and do a few runs :).
