I was going to get a Samsung V200 but a friend of mine has one and says the autonomy is crap, only lasts a day when you use it a couple of hours. Anybody know if that's normal? Or did he screw up the battery by charging it in a car charger the first time or is the battery faulty or something like that?

Also, we tried to transfer a contact from my Nokia to this V200 thing, but it didnt work. Are there different standards? It works from Sony Ericson to Nokias :confused:

Not sure where autonomy comes into it, but.....the battery life is a lot better on the latest generation phones. I have an S300 the missus has a V200. My battery lasts about 5 days but I dont use it nearly anywhere near 2 hours a day. A little less than my T68i, hers lasts a little less as the screen is larger.

Ive also had problems sending contacts from Nokia to Samsung. Seems a compatibility between Samsung and other vendors.

Not sure mate. Not a Sharp fan myself. Nokia 7250 is a capable phone but their screens are rather lacking and Im guessing you are after a clamshell style phone with camera? I dont find the battery usage that much of a problem and unless you swap contact details all the time then that wont be in issue - BTW I was talking about via IR and not SMS. Not sure if SMS works but I could try sending you one from a Samsung if you want.

Your mate's mob's battery must be faulty coz I have Samsung V200
and the charge is longer lasting then my Nokias I ve owned before.It's sleek and trendy with built in photo gimmick but I would say that Nokias are much more reliable and durable.

So you think it will fall apart and I should get a Nokia?

Nothing wrong with their sturdyness at all. My missus had the T100 over a year and dropped it all the time and it still worked. Damn the things still fetch £80 in eBay even when in poor conditions.

The clamshell design also protects the screen from dirt and damage.

If you are someone who likes to text and just make calls with the odd wap/gprs usage then they are great phones. If you want every feature and compatability know to man then stick with nokia or SE.

The only reason Nokia do so well on battery life is that their screens are still so poor. Put a nokia and samsung next to each other and tell me which looks by far the best.

fOR Claudius- Go for it if you like it.Presumably,you will get it on contract anyway which allows you to upgrade it next year or change it.I must say,it's hot at the moment and most popular.Does not break easily.Just feels far more fragile than nokia and certain functions I admire more about Nokias.But buy it and enjoy it!It's not gonna fall apart unless you abuse it.

So,you are getting "pay as you go" one then.200 quid is fine for that.These are going for more on ebay!I got mine for 80 quid on 12 months T-mobile contract.With O2,you can get it for free but contact has to be about 35 quid a month for min. 12 months.

Yeah I got my S300 for free on an 02 £35 pm contract. My missus got the V200 for £99 on a £20 O2 contract.

Hmmm... I need to subscribe for another 12 months, but I'd do that anyway... I pay £50 a month for 680 minutes and a few SMS and unlimited MMMSs.
