It's important you tell Privilege that it's an organised track day, intended for driving development, with no racing or time keeping. Otherwise they seem to think you're entering the BTCC and refuse. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Perhaps they will not cover a Jap import for track use? Don't know - just a thought.

Maybe this should be in the insurance section but I didn't think anyone would read it there!
Telephoned Privilege Insurance to enquire about track day insurance for Knockhill on Friday. I was expecting to be laughed at, so extremely impressed when told that I was allowed 3 track days a year for no extra charge although the XS would be x2 for the day.
Privilege also only charged an extra £60/yr for a Magnex BB and K&N filter.
A helpful insurance company???

They told me a slightly different story - unlimited track days (tell them in advance) as long as no time trials/racing is involved and that is is properly organised.

Made no mention of 2*excess though - perhaps I'd better check.

Their track day policy was the main reason I renewed.

Rich.

Hi,

Just asked Privilege to insure my new (to me) MY94 WRX RA <g>.

They told me (service assistant and supervisor) that they do not offer track day insurance at all and quoted 1600GBP.

(Autofirst quoted same excess with PNC also no trackday cover :-( for 960GBP.)

(26 with 6yr ncb)

Approached Privilege once more, and after an initial no, they said yes, no problem.

Called Autofirst again and they don't insure 'tractors'. I thought the lady was having a pop at the car, but realised she'd miss heard track-days. They don't do those under any circumstance.

From a previous post by JohnS...
If it's cover for individual events, then the best people to contact are Egger Lawson, on 0115 941 5255.
Cover can range from between £30 and £120 per event, depending on the risk factors, and the amount of cover you wish to take out.

I'll give a vote for Egger Lawson. They are quick in dealing with your enquiry, can send forms by e-mail and understand why you want to go on track days - fortunately I have not had to make a claim from them.....yet http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

And yes the guy you need to talk to is named Nick Kershaw http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Yep. Egger Lawson are excellent, £35 for Cadwell and only £4 for additional driver! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
BTW does a trackday claim affect your renewal premium with Privilege, obviously with standalone cover it doesn't. Worth a thought.
