Well I sold the racing puma and am going back to BMW. I went for a 530 sport with 18's, sat nav, TV and GSM phone. I hope to get it in a week or two's time. Anyone else got one on here?
|
Nope, but you are a lucky guy!! :D
They are awesome, what colour is it? Cheers, Grant |
Silver 528i Sport, lovely motor.
I'll probably go for a 530i when I next change. Cheers! Phil |
Only thing I am missing from my own 540 is the Sat-Nav..... |
Nice !!
530 Sports are real nice cars. Well done mate. |
Nice car, M5 next?
|
Its met black with black leather. I don't know about an M5 next, that said the prices are coming right, as I had a E46 M3 from March to Aug last year. I went for the 530sport as I'm on the raod more these days.
|
I had a burn with a 540i in my E36 M3 and there was nothing in it
|
Get the diesel everytime. All that torque and there's loads of tuning options. You know it makes sense.......
|
CarpetCleaner. what the the 540 like round corners? was you in front or behind.
Si |
Could always get the factory approved supercharger for the 3.0 petrol if you fancy a bit more poke......
|
i have just got a 540, goes round corners fine for a big car- little body roll and with traction of it will go sideways!
all this while the widescreen sat nav tells me where to go next! stunning car, best i've owned. Tiggs |
tiggs, how does the car handle compared to e36 325?
|
i have 19 inch Alpinas which limit body roll...this, along with the sports suspension, means it corners flatter than any 3 i've driven.
the weight is noticible when changing direction (s bend) but the weight is not a bad thing....just noticible. the back can be used more than an M3 e36 i drove which felt quie snappy, the back of mine can be chucked out and just wind it back in when ready...this is where the weight helps, it feels very controlled even when out of control! i think a lot of this is down to the engine, i have the auto box and that, with the 4.4 V8 is stunning. when in step mode it shifts as quick as i would manualy and in fact it shfts better as you can dive into a corner, shift down to 2nd just prior to the apex and boot it out. in a manual there is no way you could shift gear so close to the limit. i dont know if this would be so much fun in a less powerfull 5 series? if i won the lottery tommorow i wouldnt change it. i wouldnt have an M as i love the auto box (although an auto on the M engine would be cool!), it is faster than 90% of other cars, it is more comfy than anything i've ever sat in (sports seats are perfect) and has gizzmos galore. for me, at the ripe old age of 29! ITS THE PERFECT CAR. T ps- parked next to a 330 today and the 5 looks so much more grown up.....but grown up is not old....its like saying Arnold S is an old bloke. |
He is, I am 30 and would not own a 5 unless it was an M5 or a B10. Another 5-odd years maybe.

bobby..im not a fan of what alpina do to BM's. they seem to strike a weired balance between tacky seat badges and fake wood trim and more sports performance. i've seen lots and never seen one liked.

I think we have discussed this before haven't we?
Fair enough, I love Alpina's though, nobody does better steering on road cars. Just drove a new e46 M3, sure it was fast but it felt a bit numb in comparison with my old 3.3 B3. |
