I got offered a full loaded 735 list price £56k for £49k brand new from a BMW dealer. They seem to have a lot of trouble shifting them and a restyle is on the way which will hit residuals.

I driven the 735 its got a good engine and gear box, silky powerful with seamless delivery, quite well finished but didn't like the dash or styling. I've got an S class and the ride is a bit better and despite what what car said in a recent test there seems a bit more leg room in the Merc. I didn't thrash the 735 but the steering was pretty good possibly slightly better than the merc with a touch more feel. However it does quite waft along like the merc doesn't quite have the combination of the mercs ride and quietness.

I didn't like the looks much but it's still a really luxurious fast limo, its a bit sportier than the merc to drive (despite the silly steering wheel and the unsporty interior), but I think the merc does a slightly better job overall feels overall more special to drive (and looks a bit better). Still the BMW still a very very good car.

I would be concerned about the residuals, take a look in what car.

Tell him he would be better getting a 2nd hand M5, a new E55AMG or a 2nd hand S55AMG :D Better residuals, honest ;)

One of the bosses at a company we deal with bought a new 7 series about 9 months ago. He hates it. Cost him over £60k with all the kit on, and it's spent about 4 months at the dealers, with numerous problems, mainly from suspension and handling problems.

Might just have been a "Friday afternoon car" but you'd have expected better from BMW.

Doesn't he like S-classes or summit? Seems like the obvious choice

New A8 ? Or S class Merc if he doesn't mind the small boot.

7 Series is Horrid, reckon Chris Bangle actually works for Rover on the QT.

Flame Surfacing my Arse, Z4 isnt too bad looking though (dont let any of my mates know I said that about a ladies/hairdressers car, but they are a looker even if my male pride and occupation wouldnt see me driving one)
