I am surprised the Subaru dealer isnt selling them to you ? its not like they are a specific UK part or anything, sounds very jobsworth to me. Just go to another dealer and say you need some locking wheel nuts, they dont need a chassis number as they are all the same ????

Thanks guys!

Will try another dealer. Must remember not to pull up onto the forecourt in the Wagon though!!! might tip them off!

OK, as you can tell I've got the WRX Wagon. now I want some locking wheelnuts. Local scooby dealer won't talk to me as it's an import, and I'd rather not use halfords own nuts, so what other options do I have?

Do scoobysport, PE, scoobymania do them? if so which are the best? cost is not a problem as I'm not paying for them!

I think you can get them pretty much anywhere, especially places selling wheels (no really!!). Don't see why a Subaru dealer wouldn't sell them to you as long as you don't tell them you've got an import!

I think all dealers now ask for a chassis number when ordering any part.
I ordered a paint stick & was asked for my chassis number recently...!!

I would expect them to ask for a VIN number for a paint stick the colours change from year to year, 98 silver is not the same as 99 silver etc, but all turbo wheel nuts are the same if they have the standard wheels on ? AFAIK

Ian:
Ahh! this might be a problem as I've not got the standard wheels on the Wagon, it;s got some MiM rims by Speedline, 16 inchers I belive. Any ideas if the offical subaru locking bolts would still fit?

Richard F 25 April 2000 01:42 PM

Yep, should do

CharlesW 25 April 2000 02:21 PM

I got Subaru locking wheel nuts from the local Subaru dealer. They fit on my WRX ok. They did not ask which model it was.

I also got them to order some touch-up paint. All they needed was the paint code.

You guys with dealer supplied locking wheel nuts, do they stick out quite a bit more than the normal nuts? Mine do and don't look particularly thief proof!

CharlesW 25 April 2000 10:06 PM

Yes they do. However I do not think you could get a mole wrench or a Stilson to get enough purchase on them to undo them.
