I've metioned before about a mad project that a friend has been working on. It's almost finished and he wanted to upload a few pictures. It's a 1974 Beetle with a 1993 Legacy turbo engine shoehorned into it. We've hit a few hurdles but the main one is that the engine is turning over but wont fire. Has anyone got any ideas what we are missing or doing wrong. Thanks in advance.

That is mentalist!
the engine is turning over but wont fire Try a post in the technical section. |
Does the engine turn the correct way now it's going backwards? I remember a story of some guy putting an engine in the back of a metro and he put it in the wrong way round and had 4 reverse gears and 1 forward lol :D

He might wanna remove the sticker from the rear window then...
Maybe that's the problem? :D Looks great! |
2% aircooled?? :D

Like the one about the engine in backwards! He has had a conversion kit from america fitted which allows him to use a VW gearbox.
Thanks Jamie, I'll pass that on. He should have the disk conversion done soon which will mean he can fit the Porsche wheels, they are an old style rim that's been polished, should look great. We are currently taking bets on how long his rear tyres last when he gets it going. |
