Is there a cross-reference available with respect to Jap Spec WRX's against U.K spec cars.

i.e For Wheel bearings, Alternator Belts, starter motors etc. All the usual bits and bob's that crop up now and again.

It would be usefull as us Jap spec owners could go to the local Subaru Dealer or Lucas and purchase these item's.

I'm sure you are aware, if you mention to your local Subaru Dealer that it's for a WRX, he'll probably tell you it won't fit even if it's an identicle part !!!!

On the subject of parts and part numbers etc, did anyone ever try to get a copy of the Subaru parts CD that was mentioned on iwoc about a month or two ago (from a source in russia ..

In my experience, they (Quenby) keep all the info on the back of a fag packet. arf arf

They didn't even have a parts catalogue (I had to tell them the part number I wanted from my own copy.

Confidence inspiring. Not

Dealers have the parts lists on computer. They can also cross-reference Japanese part numbers with UK ones. Problem is that IM monitors the computer queries and, if they spot a dealer trying to cross-reference part numbers, they send the boys round to give them a warning. If the dealer ignores the warning, his franchise is at stake. This is why dealers in general won't talk to you about imports.
