I know there's one on the stereo supply, but the stereo was a PITA to fit (to get all the wires in the hole and the unit seated properly). Anyone know of a permanent supply in any of the wiring behind the drivers side lower dash panel - I've found one, which is the main feed to the ignition switch (4 pin connector, white wire) but it's a very thick wire and I'm not too keen on putting a scotchlock on it. There must be supplies to the internal light and the boot light, but I can't find either.

I assume you're "finding" these with a circuit tester, or a voltmeter?
When I put my Defi's on, I needed a permanent live, and found it amongst the wires in the two muti-pin connectors to the left of the steerring column, under the shroud which covers the wiper/indicator switch arms, ignition switch etc.
It was a fairly thin wire, so receptive to a Scotchlok, and fed into the larger of the two connectors, IIRC.

Thanks Alcazar - sounds like just what I need. Take it I need to remove the steering column shroud to get at these - or will I find them with just the under-dash panel removed?

Cheers

Steering column shroud removal is necessary. Three screws from below, release the steering wheel adjuster lever, and seperate the upper and lower halves, they then come off. Replacement is dead easy, fit the top bit first, then the bottom, adjust until they are sitting together, and the screws go straight back in their holes.....easiest car I've ever done it to. Don't overtighten the screws.

scotch locks are the spawn of satan.

solder and insulate.

<<<scotch locks are the spawn of satan>>>:D:

Agreed, but badly soldered joints are worse, and I only KNOW one person who can solder properly, and that's me:D:
