Having recently purchased an STI8 I am already trying to resist the modifying bug.

Looking into aftermarket parts & official accessories I have been taken back with the prices charged for some Scooby bits. For example upto £1000 for a complete exhaust system, £400 for Subaru mudflaps.....

I'm no penny pincher, but I also don't like to feel ripped off either. I've owned numerous performance cars previously including 3 Lotus. Subaru prices are the only ones I've come across that actually make Lotus ones look cheap!!!!!

Have others found this & why are the prices so high????

I know exhaust systems do tend to relise 30+ bhp & compared to tuning of NA cars this is cheap horsepower, but why the mega prices for an exhaust system????

BusterP,you have just got a very good scoob.Be careful with these mods.Your car is fast as it is,man!Exhaust system mod is no prob but engine mods(from dumpvalve to anything),do take advise of the experts before playing with the car. There are quite a few on scoobynet(not me!)and I can suggest that mods experts like Scoobysport etc are good with the subject.Take the car to them for serious advice.I am saying so because,I have been told that this MOD bug can ruin your perfectly good car, mate. My 2000AWD created a prob coz wrong dumpvalve and induction kit was fitted in it.The airflow meter is broken coz of that which will cost me over 200 quid.I did get exhaust sorted which is no bother. You have a cool version.Look after it.

By the way, answer to your question - Subaru are encashing the popularity of the car at the moment.GB is a rip-off country anyway so,what could be the better place to try this on?

Turbohot,

Thanks for the advice, & wasn't going to attempt any crass mods.

Initially looking at K&N panel filter and Scoobysport rear silencer.

My pleasure,BusterP! I have got 2000AWD Turbo version and I was told by the seller/dealer to leave the engine alone. But,seeing and listening to all sorts,I went ahead and got Le Mans BL**DY dump valve fitted and silly cone of K&N and see what it did to me!Every second day,I am ringing Subaru specialist to check this and check that!My boyfriend is having a good laugh!Just look after your scoob and buy that panel filter as well with proper advice.Ring Scoobysport or sumthing!
