My standard USB intellimouse optical is getting a bit long in the tooth. Tempted to get one of these new fangled wireless ones from MS but I play quite a bit of CS. Are these Wireless mice any diff from the norm in terms or response to your inputs? I dont want to spend £40 only to find I move the mouse and 1 sec later the pointer moves to catch up.

Good question.
The answer is, even the Microsoft Optical is a bit ****ty for response times. They operate at a frequency way below something like a USB mouse. There IS a high performance mouse that is cordless, optical and looks the dogs bollock$. Its even got a cool pouch which you can put it in to recharge your batteries! Simon, I haven't tried the new Logitech one, but the previous ones felt laggy to me.
Im sticking to ones with tails now :D H |
I went from a cordless one back to a corded one for one simple reason. It felt like I was changing the batteries every 5 minutes. Honestly it's a pain in the back side, if you can live with a tail I would definately wouldn't go for one without. :D

You can rest assured the MX700 is a true high performance mouse.
I had previous cordless opticals by Microsoft and Logitech and they were all laggy. The MX700 isn't laggy AT ALL. And you can forget about replacing the batteries too - like I said, once a week (eg. before you goto bed) pop it into its pouch in it recharges in no time. In fact, even though I don't need to, each night I tend to place it in the holder cos it looks so neat and tidy. -DV |

DazV - your's is a good option, I wasn't bothered with the res or the performance of my cordless mouse, the mouse in itself was cool, it was just the batteries. Because your mouse has rechargables I might take a look at it as well ;)

Love mine to bits. The best optical mouse about, corded or uncorded.
High resolution, none of the lag associated with cordless mice and the batteries last for ages and recharge by simply sticking it back in the holster. Look here for my take on the MX700: http://www.thesasclan.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=251 Has a fair few review links to it too :) The only issue I have ever had was key mapping to begin with, but with the newer logitech drivers and a little perseverence I have all the keys mapped that I need. Cheers, Nick :) |
