Bad Bads 20 June 2003 06:55 PM

Jen was keen on a BBQ and I was keen on a treasure hunt so why not combine the two.
The date will be Sunday the 27th of July.
We will hold the treasure hunt first with this finishing at the venue for the BBQ.
The venue of the BBQ is still undecided as until now Jen didn't know the date to be able to book it :D
The treasure hunt will be along the lines of a general route planned with clues to be answered on route. If people are happy to pay £2-£3 per car then I will be happy to sort out some small prizes.
Start time and BBQ venue will be sorted over the next week or two.
The meeting point for the hunt will be Tesco's car park at winnal,Winchester.
The treasure hunt will not be a timed event so is ideal for those who wish to be Sunday drivers.
Counts me out then :D :D

Lets make this a big one.

Cheers Paul

WAHOO! :D I'll start sorting a BBQ venue... :) We'll do it as a "bring what you want to eat/drink" thingy, I'll sort out the basics and that'll be cool

No problem with £2/3, more than up for it :D

Let me know if I can be of any more help :)

Jen 20 June 2003 08:09 PM

P.S. No landy :( I was gonna make them Subaru badges! ;):D lol!

Jen 20 June 2003 08:12 PM

Jen 20 June 2003 08:41 PM

ADP 20 June 2003 09:11 PM

just to be totally controversial, why dont we invite the southern MLR lot, or less controversially the surrey gang / dorset lot :D

andy

Dyney 20 June 2003 09:15 PM

RON 20 June 2003 10:01 PM

Paul,
would you mind a few 'across the border' cars coming along, I've been thinking about doing something similar for a while!!

STI SPUD 20 June 2003 10:01 PM

Andy,

How did your Evo test drive go?? New purchase maybe??;)

Rach

Bad Bads 20 June 2003 10:18 PM

The more the merrier.
Lets make it a Southern event,Hants,Dorset,Sussex,Surrey,Wiltshire even Kent.(sorry forgot Berkshire).
It sounds like we will need somewhere quite large. Is it worth trying Farley mount?
Jen,if it's ok I will leave the BBQ side to you and I will deal with the treasure hunt.

Cheers Paul.

ADP 20 June 2003 10:34 PM

Hi Rach,

I never got there, it was in Bournemouth and I ran out of time, havent re arranged it yet. Not sure Ill bother, Im not serious, I d never buy a brand new car anyway. Still got my heart set on a porker :D

ADP 20 June 2003 10:37 PM

you can hire the crab wood bbq, not sure on cost but you get a full on free standing bbq / shelter / toilets etc - good location

:D

GregK 21 June 2003 08:30 AM

Count me in for this one...

Cheers

Greg :)

Jen 21 June 2003 10:06 AM

...I'd put this on SIDC as Hants anf Friends anyway ;):D lol! :D

YAY! HUGE MEET!:D I was thinking Farley Mount as that's got room for 100 people, shelter etc, not sure how far we have to park from the BBQ thing, but I can see :)

Jen 21 June 2003 10:09 AM

...oh, Farley Mount is the Crabwood one  We can get Netley one for £40, so I can't imagine it will be much more than that, bargin imho :D

Ok, we'll they're back in the office Monday morning, so I'll try then :) Should we start another thread to attract attention of other groups? Or can everyone just spread the word?! :D Andy - you gonna post on the MLR forum? How about briskoda? :)

ADP 21 June 2003 10:25 AM

yeh Jen Ill post on MLR, Im a registered user with all of about 5 posts :D - Ill wait till its a definate.

Sorry, yeh crabwood is farley mount, however just to be confusing there are pit type bbqs at farley mount (open grassy hills, but bbq quite far from car parks) then there is the bbq shelter at Crab wood, which is the better one :D IMHO

Jen 21 June 2003 10:46 AM

...very same page I have in my favourites ;):D ..yeah, the little one's take up to 25, but the big one 100  I'll try for the big one ;):D

STI SPUD 22 June 2003 07:16 PM

BTTT, so everybody can join in !!:D:D

dnb 23 June 2003 01:58 PM

Will you welcome some invaders from across the water? ;)

I may be car-less for the day, so it'll probably only be for the bbq... :(

Jen 23 June 2003 04:41 PM

Dnb - :cool::D Sure we can arrange a lift if you're completely car-less :)

As for the BBQ - Farley Mount, the original suggestion we can have from 12 - 5.30pm but it costs £80 a session :( We also have to park the cars quite a long way from the BBQ thing, which could be a negative  = Room for 100 people.

The other is in Netley Country Park (Royal Victoria), we can have 6pm - 11pm (all others booked) and again room for 100. However, this costs about £40 which is what I'd decided was reasonable ;):) Again, we have toilets/facilities for BBQ and the bonus of a kids play area nearby. The other thing is we'd get 30 car parking passes, so we can park the cars right next to the BBQ :D

Obviously if we were running the Treasure hunt in the afternoon-ish that would be easier for the Netley one, in the morning would be better for Farley Mount...but then again Netley will be unsuitable if we're heading to the north of the County...

Not sure what paul's planning - so if either of these aren't suitable I'll look for another destination - obviously they're getting booked up pretty quick at this time of year though!:) I was happy to cover the cost of the £40 one, but £80 is a bit much so we might have to think about that if that's the one we want...let me know any thoughts you guys have got on the matter :)

ADP 24 June 2003 12:46 AM

hmm tricky one

80 quid is a bit rich, fine if say youve got 80 people but chances are we wont.

erm..........

Jen 24 June 2003 07:27 AM

...exactly. Had an e-mail from Paul, I'll look and see what else we can find...otherwise it might just have to be a nice pub :)

Jen 24 June 2003 12:41 PM

:( Well I've failed :( Tried Queen Elizabeth Country Park just south of Petersfield and they're all booked up, I think we left it a bit late to sort a BBQ venue...so I guess it's Netley (which is probably a bit far for those out of county) or a nice pub... :)

Maybe we should settle for a pub that does nice food this time (quite willing to go and try a few in the interests of science ;):D) and plan in advance next year  That's what happens when you try and do these things out of the football season ;):D lol:D
