I'm toying with the idea of hiring a car to drive from New Orleans to Los Angeles for my hols. Would be even better if I could hire a Scoobie.

Any thoughts on who to talk to in th US ? I have the usual on-line flight and car hire people list but some one may know another option.

Also anyone done something like this ? What are the pratfalls ?

I suppose anything's possible, that's a big drive though, must be 2,000 miles each way. I'd want a big yank saloon with a/c cruise for that, which are surprisingly plentiful in the states. Expect to pay about $400 for 2 weeks in a "full size" car. Rent when you get there.
