I'm getting a new (second hand though) car soon and like the look and speed of the Clio 172's. Does anyone drive one that is tall though? Im 6 foot 3 and the room thing is the only thing putting me off. Obviously I can arrange a test drive but I just thought id ask anyway.

Cheers

Steve

Any tall people with a Clio 172??

NotoriousREV 18 June 2003 04:29 PM

I'm 6ft and drive my other half's Clio Si easily, the seat is height adjustable. I find my big feet have trouble round the steering column though (size 10 feet)

Daz34 18 June 2003 04:37 PM

As has been said, seat has plenty of adjustment & lots of headroom for a small car.
Don't think you will have a problem :)

wilf 18 June 2003 04:52 PM

6 2 15 stone and clio cup. No probs with space. Seats are not bad for me either being heavy although wife complains as I squash them into submission!

Tim-Grove 18 June 2003 04:54 PM

I wouldn't say there is lot's of leg room, in my old 172 i had the seat 2 clicks from the back and im only 5foot10. Might just be me as i dont like my legs crunched up when driving.

Not got one of my own (may be getting a Cup though) but I regularly drive my mates mk1 172 (named driver) and I am 6'3" tall with size 11 feet, yet have no problems...

There's plenty of room.

Kussimurran 18 June 2003 10:17 PM

I'm 6'3", and find my Cup rather uncomfortable. There IS enough room, but the driving position sucks. Difficult to put my finger on it. The fact that the steering wheel isn't reach adjustable is one issue. Basically you'll be OK if you have short legs and very long arms-an Orangutang springs to mind-but I haven't. I'm Swedish, and this car is French...

Sub97 19 June 2003 09:15 AM

Thanks for all the responses guys, I think I need a test drive to make sure.

Cheers.

6'21/2" and have a cup, no problems, except pedal well cramped to start with but now i m used to it.

Clutch on the cup is the worst thing about the car - bites too high, easy to stall/slip.

dogmaul 19 June 2003 11:34 AM

im 6'1" 14.5 stone and drive a 172 with no problem for me lots of room with the back straight up and seat quite far forward

zedder123 19 June 2003 06:47 PM

At just under 2 inches tall with my baseball cap on, i can just about fit in the cup. not sure about the normal 172 though, but i think they are the same, its just that one has a few kilos more brittle plastic than the other. Also, the gear knob and transmission rattles so much i am sure all you 172 owners know where to stick it ;)

Nice well rounded factual response there:rolleyes:

cheers mate. Come to think of it, the 'Other Marques' forum should affiliate itself with cliosport. Oh, wait a minute, it IS cliosport now. Oh well, i may have to go and contribute to the racing forum and tell everyone how I blew away this STI PPP on the way to work this morning in me cup, taking it up to twice the speed limit blah blah...From my experience, and many other colleagues i may add, 172 drivers are nothing more than silly boy racers. Worst of all, you would expect the insurance to put them off. Then again, they are probably nicked in the first place. Well, that's how they are driven anyway.

LOL at you Scooby owners!!

Feel threatened do we?

Scott

zedder123 19 June 2003 07:23 PM

Don't worry, we know that all you little boys really aspire to owning a scooby . Admit it if you have any bits between your legs. One is a rally beast, the other is Dorris' shopping trolley which attracts pr!ck drivers only due to its dirt cheap price. Shame you'll never drive one with the driving records you must accumulate driving a cup, insurance wouldn't touch you this side of Bolivia.

zedder123 19 June 2003 07:27 PM

zedder123 you must be under 12 years of age with your immature posts! Just about anyone can afford a scoob these days - in fact for a New Clio Cup you could have 2 Scoobs and not have the Burberry cap thats compulsory with a Scoob these day!!

When was the last time that you have heard a 12 year old, educated in this country's education system, string together a decent sentence? I rest my case. I guess you drive a cup then as well.

Tim-Grove 19 June 2003 07:30 PM

nice edit:D

Carlos The Jackel 19 June 2003 07:31 PM

Nope you won't catch me wasting money on new cars!! I can't afford the depreciation!!

zedder123 19 June 2003 07:32 PM

Hmmm, maybe Calos. Don't get me started on that. Let's say i have had a very busy day brought on by all the interest in the new Z4 launch.

Rich D 19 June 2003 07:33 PM

Don't feed the trolls...

;)

Tim-Grove 19 June 2003 07:34 PM

:D

zedder123 19 June 2003 07:34 PM

Well, if you are cup owner, you wouldn't be able to AFFORD to feed the trolls ;)...

Carlos The Jackel 19 June 2003 07:44 PM

LOL :D

Tim-Grove 19 June 2003 07:48 PM

Nice comment there. All of us may not be a financially fortunate as you and cannot afford a nice new Scoob.

This thread actually served a purpose before this guy arrived, might as well delete it now as it’s just turned into a slanging match.
