For some reason outlook has decided it doesn't want to connect to my pophost today and I get the following message....

The host 'pophost.123-reg.co.uk' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'pophost.123-reg.co.uk', Server: 'pophost.123-reg.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

I figured it could be a problem at the hosts end but apparently not, and when I try to connect to my other accounts, blueyonder and freeserve I get similar messages

Anyone have any ideas why its gone t1ts up today? And what I can check in the hope of finding a solution.

Cheers

Actually, same thing happened with me and my freeserve account. SMTP couldn't be found ?

Either everyone's unlucky or there are greater forces at work :(

Try these suggestions from last night as a starter.

Yeah, very spooky - thanks for that link - looks like others are suffering too.

In my case its freeserve on a customers PC and his BT Broadband.

I've got a naghing feeling ZoneAlarm could be the common factor for us all. Furthermore, when I try and disable it to remove it from the 'suspect list' :) I don't think its disabling itsfelf effectively enough.

Like I mentioned in the other post, I may try uninstalling it completely to see if that helps. I'll have a look on the ZoneAlarm support area first.
