Has anyone any experience of these? I have the chance of one as a company car - unfortunately a Sport is just out of reach :-(

I think I'm down to the choice of a GL or a top spec Focus (I haven't looked into these yet as I *really* don't want a Ford, even though the Focus is apparently a decent drivers car).

Thanks,
Andy

Andy,

Although I have no direct experience of the GL, I have to say it does look a bit pants...I have on th other hand had a Focus for a while and whilst I am not the biggest Ford fan, it wasn't a bad car at all. It was quick (1.8 zetec one) had air con and the usual gadgets and was actually quite a laugh. So if it were me, I'd go for the Ford....

No, get a Focus, go for white, get some white alloys and a marker pen and write martini down the side.

Hmmmm, as far as I know, with the 2.0GL, you've lost the turbo and the sports suspension, so what you're left with is a solid, reliable, somewhat dated Japanese saloon.

As it's a company car, you don't have to worry about resale value (or to a lesser extent, reliability). Hate to say it, but I'd go for the Focus.

As always, drive them all before you choose.

I have to agree and say avoid the GL.

I tried the sport and thought it offered no benefits over my Rover 620 Gsi (I'm prepared to be roasted BTW).

I don't think the GL could offer you anything over the Focus in fact the Focus might offer you some nice creature comforts...

Hi all,

Could someone tell me the difference between the 2.0 GL and the 2.0 Sport, other then the spoilers and front spots?

Cheers

If I remember rightly, alloy wheels, and better seats, but I think mechanically it's identical (ie 2.0 boxer and AWD). Maybe the suspension is a bit stiffer? I've never driven a GL so can't comment on its ride/handling etc. It is really a wheeze to get a premium price for a glorified GL that's not quite a turbo, but to most punters looks like one. Good car though, I enjoyed it. Personally wouldn't entertain a 4 door GL, though I could see where folks might find the 5 door handy in any AWD form.

The Sport has ABS, the 2.0GL doesnt.
