Anybody removed their abs, if so how?

Did you fit a master cylinder from a non abs wrx??

How did you find brake bias or did you fit a bias valve?

David
about to rip the sh1te out.

just pull the fuse out stops it working then and it brakes like a normal system

David_Wallis 16 June 2003 11:14 PM

well that doesnt really help...

It doesnt create the room I need for the stupid sized air filter..

Also when I used to try pulling the fuse on my abs the results werent as I would expect.. felt very biased to the rear and wanted to spin..

David, maybe I'm daft, but I would have thought that the master cylinder would be the same, sur;ey you could just remove the abs, and then plumb the brakes straight from the master cylinder, as long as you get the right wheel from the right outlet would it not be fine??

David_Wallis 18 June 2003 04:20 PM

uk with abs master cylinder only has two pipe outputs..

so looks like I need a wrx master cylinder.. (but Im on with that.. and also an electric vacuum or vacumn pump)

hi david
i would not recomend pulling the fuse as this can put it in safe mode ie 70% braking ive removed abs on a couple of systems and kept the original master but had to put all new lines in and a new brake bias valve this can be a bonus as it will alow you to set the bias you prefer...chris give me a ring if you want any help....

David_Wallis 24 June 2003 07:24 PM

any ideas of where to get a bias valve from?

I need to change the master cylinder to a wrx one as the uk one only has two ports.. and I need four..

Pulling the fuse is not nice..

Rally cars dont run with the servo working, high boost kills them, and with anti-lag on, one is trying to work against the other,as for a bias valve ,there are several on the market that you can put inline ,AP do one ,so do Tilton.

Along the same lines. If you have removed the ABS unit what do you do with the multi plug? Does it need to be removed or wires crossed to prevent warning lights or just left as is?

David_Wallis 25 June 2003 09:53 AM

fook it.. ill take the bulb out if I get a warning light..

I was going to run a vacumn pump for my servo? so it will still work with antilag..
