Hi,
DVLA is holding up on the registration of the scooby and it won't be
done until wed/thurs next week.

my importer has said that I can have the car but I would have to
drive it on 'zz' plates, which are apparently the irsh import plates.
This, the import says is legal provided I have full insurance and
valid MOT, both of which I have. the only other issue is that I won't
have a vaild UK tax disc due to the DVLA hold up.

Is this really legal? am I likely to get hassled by the police?

Hi

theres a guy I work with who has got a imported Civic he got it just before last Xmas and he's still on the "ZZ" plates!

Tax not a problem. You are legally allowed on the ZZ plates for 1 month after importing I believe.

I imported from Holland recently and had a similar delay in registration. I contacted the local traffic police and was told most definately I could travel around on a Z plate for a year after importing.
