How easy is it to fit new discs on the rear?
MY99 by the way Jim |
Very easy, wheels off,and of you go. While you are there if u have an air line blow the brake dust out the shoes though wear protective clothing , goggles and mask...........
|
You may need a couple of long threaded bolts to push the disc off.
Don't forget to let the hand brake off as well. Easy to do. |
If the discs are tight coming off you may need to remove the rubber bung and loosen the shoes off , if you force them off the shoes will rip out of there fixings.
|
Oops forgot that bit !
Well spotted Ian. I tried the rubber bung thing before trying to remove the disk but couldn't find the screw to turn - so risked it and was lucky. It's hard to find and I'm not sure I had the right bung out ! Could'nt even see what to do with the disk off ! so sorry, can't help any further. Chris |
While you're doing a disc change, it might be a good idea to check and copper grease the shoes. (NOT the friction surfaces though!!!)
It's stopped one of the annoying klunks and clicks my car has. Just 23 more to go now!! ;) |
Found it :D

Jim,
Just warp them and get them replaced under your extended warranty:D If you decide to do it yourself can I come and help/watch as I want to do mine at some point. Andrew... |
Thanks guys, thought it was that easy.
Andrew no probs mate, will be doing them in a week or so, so I'll give you a bell before hand Jim Oh don't think warranty will cover worn out discs, even I'm not cheeky enough to make a fraudulent claim ;) |
