|
*drool* :D
Stunning...one of my all time faves I reckon £100k isn't too far wide of the mark |
Wouldn't pay more than 30k...
100k yeah right [Edited by mnangrybeats - 6/15/2003 6:40:34 PM] |
I think those thinking of £30k are dreaming.............
This *is* a special car - something most people won't drive or own.. Gastro |
Yep, 100k no drama.
|
There is a "Touring" version on www.QV500.com for about £50k. Some other fairly nice motors for sale on there too. Anyone got a spare £700k to lend me for a Mac F1?
:D |
I was working on a mates website, he works for a Porsche interiors company, they were doing a full restore on a mint, concourse car, check it out:
http://www.southboundtrimmers.com Andy ps the guys here reckoned it was worth 70k plus (its a very well known car) [Edited by ADP - 6/16/2003 12:19:14 PM] |
I drove Goodwood in a 2.7RS about three years ago. Have to be brutally honest and say that i couldn't see what all the fuss was about.
Then, upon my request, the instructor took me round. Christ on a bike. When they're in the hands of somebody who knows exactly what they're doing, they're awesome. But 100k? Can't see why anybody would want to pay that. For the exclusivity? |
This one is for sale for 99000 Euros
http://www.carclassic.com/images8/DE45/DE45-1.jpg or 72500 Euros for this one. http://www.carclassic.com/images8/DH64/DH64-1.jpg [Edited by davyboy - 6/16/2003 12:48:32 PM] |
30K LOL - This is an original 2.7 RS. Possibly the most collectable Porsche of the last 30 odd years!!
The only other one I found for sale recently was up for $147000! Lovely car BTW. £100K would be easily obtained I reckon. Chris |
Lovely, was lucky enough to be driving a recently restored one the other week, makes any other 911 i've driven seem tame. The low weight transforms the car. Took my mate out in it, he usually races grp C sports cars and recently a 911 GT3 Cup and a F360 Challenge in the Brit GT and he was really impressed with the RS so high praises!
Was shocked (and pleased) to find the engine rev'd to 7300, think thats higher than current 911 Carreras? Every other 70's,80's 90's 911 i've been in only went to about 6000. Brakes werent the best (compared to a modern sports car) but with only 1000ish kg to stop they did the job and even with pretty poor tyres on the speed you could carry through corners was amazing. Edit, Wanted to get a few pics, but only ended up with a couple after wasting digi cam battery being childish with girly mate in playground in park in Leamington spa  If anyone can host them i'll mail 'em to them, they're about 1.5meg each though! One here for £13.5k.

But surely it's 9/10 of the experience for 1/10 of the money? [Edited by carl - 6/16/2003 2:38:16 PM] |
Years ago I went along to a Porsche track day at Mallory, and there was a bloke there with a 1973 lightweight RS. That was simply awesome. It's my brother's dream car, and he'd just built up the courage to ask the guy for a passenger-ride round the track when we noticed it really was light-weight... only had the driver's seat in there!
We did get a couple of "flying" laps in Chris Millard's Porsche Turbo (he won the B'ham Super-Prix several times in it), and that was well fast. The only car there faster was a BMW Touring car which had gate-crashed the event. The RS was lapping about 2 or 3 seconds slower than the Beemer. Like I said, "awesome", especially when you consider the age... |
