The America post just made me think that the Mini must be one of the only sucessful hatch's that the sell over there, the only other ones that spring to mind is the Focus hatch and Golf of which the sedan versions (Jetta) outsell them.
Why is it they don't sell anyone know? [Edited by GTI - 6/14/2003 7:01:26 PM] |
I think the VW Beetle and polo also did pretty well over there.

Yeh ur right the Beetle did do scarily well, the Polo was never released there mind.
So does anyone know why in general hatchbacks dnt sell in the states, come on there must be some Americans on here? |
They don't fit in them?

Here, it's respectable to have a car that does good mpg.
There, it's respectable to have a car that does crap mpg. Also a question of balance. Whilst over here (well anywhere outside the U.S) we strive to be more efficient, more economical, use lighter materials etc. We 'NEED' someone else to create a balance of crap cars to help preserve the equilibrium. ;) In other words, they're just doing their bit. So, you see, they're a thoughtful bunch :D [Edited by Dracoro - 6/15/2003 3:51:38 PM] |
Hatchbacks don't sell very well in Asia either, the market just want saloons.
