Hi looking to buy a wireless ADSL router now I'm on broadband but cant decide which to buy
The missus has a pc upstairs and I have a laptop which I use all over the house so a wireless is a must for me. Been looking at these: Netgear DG824M £170 inc 1 PCMCIA card Speedtouch 570 v2 £186 inc 1 PCMCIA card D Link DSL 604+ £165 inc 1 PCMIA card are these any good? any other suggestions? At present me and the missus are having to share a Speedtouch 330 ADSL usb modem! Cheers Bob |

All of the ones you've listed are pretty good. You might want to also consider Buffalo's wireless broadband router. I'm using it as I type this. I've had it a few months now - very impressed. Connections are very good - never lost the signal (we live in town house and it works happily on any floor). It comes with an integrated 4 port switch and firewall. It will also do the normal NAT and MAC address spoofing. Best price I found was More Computers - £138 inc VAT (router and PCMCIA cardbus bundle). Chris [Edited by Chris L - 6/14/2003 2:32:15 PM] |
Thanks Chris, I'll have a look at the buffalo one.
Did you buy it from the morecomputers website? Not heard of them before... Anyone else? Bob |
Are you sure the WBS-G54A-CB-1#BDL is an ADSL router not a cable router ?

Yes I did buy from More Computers - very good. Delivered in 48 hours.
The Buffalo router is a broadband router - it will take either cable or adsl. It connects to the cable / adsl modem via a standard ethernet port. Chris |

Draytek vigor 2600We works perfectly for me.

4X4BOB, The Buffalo Broadband router is not built for ADSL in the same way as the D Link DSL 604+ or Netgear DG824M. It does not have a built in ADSL modem. If your ADSL modem is USB it will not connect to the Buffalo. Be warned!

After talking to a mate I've decided to go for the D Link DSL 604+ Cheers, Bob |
