Has anyone else 19's on the new Sti 8 except me and Sammy? cos the car when cornering hard or when more than 2 up seems to be fouling soemthing inside the arches both front and rear yet I can see nowhere where the wheel has contacted either outer arch or inner wheel arch liner. Absolutely nothing! What can be making the noise? Has anyone else experienced this? There is also no visible signs of damage to the tyres. Tyre size 235/35/19 pirelli Pzero rosso? Can anyone help because it is doing my box in. Cheers.

Have you got mud flaps?

elgordano 12 June 2003 10:50 AM

I think Scoobyworld are running 19's on there car. I think its a WRX though and not the STi.

Could well be the tyre touching the rubbing strip on the outer arch.

NO MUD FLAPS FITTED , SO IT PROBABLY IS WHAT YOU SUGGEST MIKE . THANKS PEOPLE . AND THANKS MIKE FOR THOSE FEW MEMORABLE LAPS AROUND ROCKINGHAMS IN FIELD TRACK THE OTHER MONTH IN YOUR STI , GREAT DAY AND VERY NICE TO MEET YOU . ps COULD REDUCING TYRE SIZE TO 225 STOP THIS DO YOU THINK AS THE NOISE IS ONLY VERY SLIGHT AS IF IT IS ONLY JUST TOUCHING , WHATEVER IT IS TOUCHING !. AND WOULD A SET OF YOUR SPRINGS MAKE IT WORSE REGARDS SIMON .

MikeWood 13 June 2003 09:09 AM

Having wheels of a larger (numeric) offset would be the best solution but changing tyre size may be as difficult as 235 is about the narrowest 19" tyre available. Springs may not help either as the ride height is being controlled as much by the bumpstop when you get this low.

CHEERS MIKE FOR THAT , WHAT OFF SET DO YOU SUGGEST ?

MikeWood 13 June 2003 09:50 AM

An 8" wide wheel needs to be much nearer ET50 if you are using a larger tyre than a 225 really.

MARK MORRIS 13 June 2003 12:44 PM

sammyh 13 June 2003 08:32 PM

Mine are et48 and have never rubbed :)

subfreak 14 June 2003 12:09 PM

NOT SURE ON OFFSETT THE WHEELS CAME FROM JEFF FOWKES WHEELS AND TYRES IBSTOCK NEAR LEICESTER, JUST TOLD HIM WHAT I WANTED AND ASSUMED HE WOULD GET IT CORRECT . IS THERE ANY MARKS ON THE WHEEL SAMMY RELATING TO THE OFFSETT ? AND IF THEY ARE WRONG CAN ANYTHING BE DONE , PERHAPS MACHINING ? AND ARE YOU LOT AT LIGHT WATER VALLEY TOMORROW ?

sammyh 14 June 2003 01:08 PM

Yep i'll be there ;) The offset and size is stamped on the inside edge of the wheel rim.

subfreak 15 June 2003 11:07 PM

NICE TO SEE YOU TODAY SAMMYH THANKS FOR THE ADVICE , TOOK WHEELS OFF AND THE OFFSETT IS ET 45 ! COULD THIS BE THE PROBLEM AND COULD IT BE ALTERED ? GREAT DAY TODAY . AND IS THERE A SUBARU SPLITTER AVAILABLE YET FOR OUR CARS ? REGARDS SIMON

subfreak 19 June 2003 09:50 PM

ET45 OFFSETT SAMMYH I IS IN DEEP **** !

Turbohot 21 June 2003 12:25 AM

Where are the pics?Just curious!

sammyh 21 June 2003 09:30 AM

Simon you need to get 3mm machined from the hub or the better option would be to take them back and get your supplier to exchange them for the correct ones.

Turbo hot pics are here

sammyh 21 June 2003 09:31 AM

To avoid any confustion I do not mean the hub on the car but the wheel :)

sammyh 25 June 2003 08:20 AM

Did you get this sorted out Simon?
