it really depends how hard you drive and where (i.e. trackdays)......with the discs you have probs first step would be Pagid rs4.2.1 / Ferodo ds2500 which will far outstrip those horrible three lettered things (IMO of course), after that it depends on you and budget..........
mail me for any specific advice,

Are you sure the fluid was changed ?
Sounds like its cooked - hence the spongy brake pedal after little use.
Do it yourself and save some money (also know it been done).
Its a 2 man job and only takes 20 mins.Wheels off gives you more room to work then-
1. Loosen the bleed nipple
2. 2nd person presses the brake pedal down.(DO NOT LIFT)
3. Close bleed nipple.
4. Let pedal back to top
5. Check fluid level. Fill as required.
6. Repeat Four or five times on each hub.

If you get any "milky" looking fluid - this is the cooked stuff,
once it goes clear everything should be ok.
Takes about 1/2 a ltr to flush through the system and 1/2 litre to refill.Dot 4 is good enoough. Dot 5 is only better at repelling moisture so don't be fooled into thinking it a "better" brake fluid.
Can't remember which wheel /hub when (its important) but a quick search on here will tell you.
If not send me a e mail and I'll go and dig it out.
Chris

Thanks for advice gentlemen, think I will go for changing fluid again and a set of the Pagid pads and hopefully be able to have faith again that I will stop when I want, and not when car decides it wants to. :D

A few months back had scary moment when brakes faded on me with lots of smoke from front wheels etc.:eek:Replaced front discs to Tarox grooved ones and renewed pads to EBC reds, which I was told at time would be fine, but from reading on other threads on here dont think they are rated very highly. Also had fluid changed to I beleive Castrol Response, which I am also not sure was the right fluid.I have just had exactly the same experience with brake fade, smoke, smell and pedal very spongy on me.:eek:Can anyone help with this as to what pads and fluid I can have fitted so I can once again have some confidence when I apply brake, without going to £1000 plus for big brake upgrade.Edited just to say car is My99 WRX STI RA V Ltd Thanking you Martin
