I've had the AP 6 Pot brake kit (330mm discs) on the car now for around 8 months and could do with balancing out the stopping power to the rear of the car. At the moment the rear brakes are still the standard items (MY95 wrx), and I'm wondering if a) its possible to put the original front brakes onto the rear ? and b) has anyone done this, and is it worthwhile ?

or, what other options should I consider.

Thanks in advance

Paul

Researched this sometime ago as I wanted 330 on the rear though was advised with 80-85 % of the braking done at the front it was not a worthwhile option.

Getting the rear bias with 4 pot calipers was I recall a bit of a nightmare......

I was concerned about massive increases in the front braking effort without changing the back brakes upsetting brake balance. Then someone in CCC pointed out that the better the front brakes the more forward weight transfer so there is actually even less work for the rears to do than with standard front brakes. Now I don't worry.

Oddly enough this is the first intelligent comment in CCC for about 5 years.

Interesting fact - the Pogo 206 WRC car appears to have the same size (huge) brakes front and rear and they do something clever with the active centre diff to use rear brakes thro the transmission to add even more braking effort to the front.

Might be worth your while reading the Stoptech site. They have a section about rear brakes, it will probably make you sllep easier.

I have a godspeed 335mm kit on the front of mine, I just put the same pads in the rear, the car now slow's a lot 'fletter' if you get my drift, unless you spend all day on track, just do the pads!
