URGENT!!!
We have lost our CAT 4 car for the up and coming Cossie battle, and need a replacement.
You will be needed for two days (25th/26th April) for a rolling road test and varios performance tests. Accomodation paid for if needed.
Anyone got any suggestions?
If so, call me asap on 07971 087017.
Anything over 320bhp considered.

Stef.

Mike Rainbird 19 April 2000 01:20 PM

Stef,
No chance - I didn't think such a car existed (unless we're talking PEs rollers, then you need to subtract 30bhp anyway!).

Prepare to be wasted in EVERY category.
LOL
Cossies will win on default, 'cos Scooby drivers are so yellow and have heard how good our Cat 4 car is, so are pulling out left right and centre. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Any news on your gearbox?
Mike
PS. Did I mention that Cossies rule lately?! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

MorayMackenzie 19 April 2000 01:21 PM

Suggestion: Have you asked Shaun of Harj, they have serious monster cars that are faster than speeding bullets, apparently... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Moray

Mike Rainbird 19 April 2000 01:24 PM

Moray,
You have to remember that this is in their minds at the moment and NOT proven on the track (or anywhere else for that matter).

Besides they wouldn't want the public humiliation of being beaten by a 14 year old Ford.... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
LOL
Mike

igratton 19 April 2000 01:25 PM

You could try J(Firefox)...

but I'm not sure it will be ready in time (let alone run in)

Cheers

Ian

Stef 19 April 2000 01:25 PM

Moray.
Perhaps, but the drivers need to be good as well!!!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Mike.
If it comes to it I'll enter Cat 4 as well!!! lol http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
Apparently my gearbox only had a faulty bearing, so should be ready in time. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Stef.

Shaun 19 April 2000 01:32 PM

Harj can run as cat 4. He can weave the cossie to death!!!!!

Scatman

Stef 19 April 2000 01:37 PM

Ha! lol http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

GaryC 19 April 2000 01:42 PM

Martin's (posts as MTR) mate has a 340BHP 22B - should do the trick!

Craig H 19 April 2000 02:30 PM

Mike,
tlking of yellow, how come yours isn't gonna be there? I suppose if you struggle against a quick UK, it's probably for the best anyway!

Weaver 19 April 2000 02:41 PM

Craig there's going to be an even faster Cossie there. He was running very low 12'5 on Sunday at the Pod. Somehow I think you chocolate engine boys are going to be struggling to beat that http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif

MorayMackenzie 19 April 2000 02:48 PM

Mike,

You must remember that you've sent me your cars spec... So now, just for the record, exactly how much of your car is actually 14 years old? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Moray

Craig H 19 April 2000 04:08 PM

Weaver,
I won't disagree - but that is one category, money no object that is largely irrelevant. The more a Cossie will pee on me, the more irrelevant it becomes! However when I pee on a Cossie, it is extremely relevant, obviously!

Weaver 19 April 2000 04:19 PM

Craig, I couldn't agree more http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

That's my kind of logic http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Mike Rainbird 19 April 2000 05:01 PM

Er Moray,
My car isn't 14 years old, my car isn't even in it. The reason being that Stef's original Cat 4 car from Scotland (c400bhp) was supposed to be capable of 12.2s standing quarter, as my car has only ever done a 12.6 (and is 2wd, so not like for like), I picked a 4x4 capable of a proven 11.80s @ 115 mph (did a 12.04 on Sunday when his water injection wasn't working....).

Obviously we are gonna kick your butts.....
LOL
Mike

Craig H 19 April 2000 05:05 PM

Mike,
1 out of 4 doesn't make you a winner!

MorayMackenzie 19 April 2000 05:08 PM

Lets see now... Car goes in straight line for quarter of a mile... Car's don't go if slightest drop of rain occurs... Humm... I agree Mike, this does look like (steering wheel optional) cossie territory. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Off topic here,

Craig, reply to one of my mails will ya!!

Moray,
Despite your technical mind, sometimes I do wonder if you can actually read (or absorb the stuff you do read http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif)! It is only at Santa Pod that you have to stop racing if it rains. The performance testing will be done at Alconbury air field rain or no rain... Santa Pod's specially treated surface turns into a skid pan if there is water on it, which is why they HAVE to stop in the rain. Even when it is virtually dry with just the odd damp patch, it has been know for powerful cars to step sideways at 100mph (I have the skid marks to prove it http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif).

There are five categories to each car. Top speed, 0-60, standing quarter, power figure and handling. Even if we don't win the last one that leaves four out of five in every category (apart from Stef's - bvgger!).
Read it and weep...
LOL
Mike

Mike,

Assuming that my only source of information on this subject is this thread, maybe you will appreciate why I may have read more emphisis on the quarter mile times than on other forms of testing... you yourself talk about cars in terms of quarter mile ETs on the thread. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/confused.gif

Obviously you have been obsessing about this event for ages. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif I first read about it at the top of THIS thread, so I don't have the advantage of knowing all the previously discussed stuff that you do. Sorry for not being clairvoyant! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/rolleyes.gif

BTW: What number am I thinking of? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Moray

PS: I suppose I might tend to switch to low bandwidth when reading anything you post, is that unreasonable? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

harj 20 April 2000 08:37 AM

Mike, Moray,

Take it easy boys, do yo really want to become men like Shaun and myself, that's aimed @ Mike http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Mike the obsessor, why aren't you doing Rainman? Oh forgot, Got the Car but not the Skill http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gifLOL

Careful now

Harj... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Craig H 20 April 2000 09:11 AM

Mike,
You've got 160ish HP more than Stef, but can only do the 1/4 mile 4/10ths faster. How will any Cossie with a similar out put to a Scoob be close!!! The top category we all know you'll walk, but the first 3? Yeah, right!

Mike Rainbird 20 April 2000 09:14 AM

Moray,
2!

Harj,
I think the magazine wanted like for like as well anyway. Can;t wait to compare my skill to yours next time out... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
LOL
Mike

harj 20 April 2000 09:23 AM

Mike,

The practice begins this weekend hopefully, I am a semi Pod Virgin, but not for too long I hope http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Let me get my astonishing times and then we will talk.

Harj..
