After waiting six weeks I now have my new engine fitted, the last one had done all of 8k miles before the engine let go - one of the pistons had overheated on one side which showed itself as a dark brown colour on the crown and the sides of the piston was chipped all the way along the edge and down the side which also knackered up the bore - hence the new motor. This after having just had its first service two weeks prior!
As before I will be running it in as per the book, ie very carefully. The dealer was ok in some things but not too good overall, I have just given the car engine the once over and have found that the mechanics have dropped something onto the intercooler and messed up the core- it looks horrible, also they have forgotten to fit the engine undertray - but hey thats easy to do its only three foot square! Why did it overheat? Was it water entering the bore due to faulty head gasket? Or was it running lean at WOT.
Under trays not that large is it! and the intercooler makes a great tool tray. Can you mail me offline with the dealer |
No matter where you are in the world, good service is always hard to find !

What mileage did you have your first service?
