Hopefully taking charge of my new STI on Friday. Its an ex demo but has only done 144 miles (last time I drove it about half a week ago), and as part of the deal including free fitting of a DV and STI mats all for 24k, the dealership also said they would do the first service on it before I picked it up. At most I wouln't have thought it would have done more than 200 miles even if it has moved from 144 where it was. Should I let this servicing take place or is it going to affect the running in of the car. I have heard that they change the oil to a thicker one, surely this will just extend the wear of the engine, and make it tighter for longer. Any Views. Thread also under General Scoobynet if you want more detail

would imagine you will have to do another oil change at 1000 miles as the first oil change is to get rid of the initial build up of sluf from the running in process and at 144 miles still some bedding in to do

Cheers for that will enquire and see what they reckon. Any other views about it.

If they're goona do it, why not leave it until the around the 1k mark, when it's suppoed to be done, at least it would be being done by the book wouldn't it!

Agree with Ron, what's the problem with just booking it in at 1000 miles and having it done free of charge, as agreed?
