Hi guys,
I want to get my xbox chipped, if only for the Halo hack!

I have no idea how the different chips work in practice, is there an idiots guide to say the Executer range? Or is another chip the way to go?

For example, do you have to flash the BIOS everytime you use it? Where do you get the BIOS from, as the chip people won't do them?
Can you hack it to play Region 1 and 2 DVD's automatically?
How do you programme/download to the xbox, do you LAN it to your pc? (Can't get broadband at home!)

Phew, hope someone can help. Thanks in advance.

For chips, either the Executor X2 if you want to solder (although there is a pogo-pin header available) or the Xodus/Matrix/Chameleon chip if you don't :)

Right if you get it chipped you can play backup games and also replace the hard disk and play games from the hard disk. You can also run things like Yamp and XBMP (media players), FTP servers, file managers and other stuff.

For the halo patch, it is a patch you apply to the default.xbe file of the game.

You can connect the Xbox to a home LAN (wired or wireless) and also direct to a PC via a crossover cable.

Willread it all when I'm not at work.

The Halo hack was a free DVD with 1 of the xbox mags (can't remember name, it's at home), it was a bit of a con as it played a video of the game in action but said you needed a chipped xbox to do it, but didn't say what you did or how! It included superbullets which could shoot down Covenent drop ships amongst other things.

i have executor 2 chip in mine, it's connected to network so i can play mp3's and video files on tv, only thing is you have to disable if you want to play on xbox live else it kills system or so i've been told dj might have more info on that.

Take a look at the FAQ's and Modchip section on www.xbox-scene.com.

No, you don't have to flash the bios everytime. Just when you want to upgrade it.

Get the bios from me ;)

Multi Region is supported by most bioses/chips or the downloadable DVDx software.

You can either FTP files to your X-Box (with a crossover cable or hub) or write to CD-RW/DVD-R and copy over.

Let me know if you need more info.

BTW, the Halo hack you mentioned I assume is the Trainer available that allows infinite everything :) ?

Is it hard to flash the BIOS?. Im thinking about buying a Xobox but dont know if i should and will i chip it.
I havent had a console since my old SNES so i dont know if i'll play with it for a week then stop playing with it.

Is the X-2 Pro hard to install? im thinking if i do get on i'll get the pogo pins, is that good or are those pins cr@p?
