Anyone know what the rough mpg of a 22B is ?
not a lot i get about 15 to 16 mpg if i'm lucky
lot thirstier than the P1 then ?
My re-mapped 22B does 16-17 with hard driving and now 22mpg with a bit of both!
With the std ecu its about 20-21. Tim |
does the 22B rev high when doing normal driving ? such as on the motorway. I've heard some horror stories about the jap imports sti's
what horror stories.
80mph is 4000rpm on mine, 4500prm is "apparently" 90mph!

dont reckon 22b owners are bothered about mpg? ;)
I was when it was doing 14 to the gallon:rolleyes:
Tim thats the same gearing as my TypeRA 19.7mph/1000rpm in 5th. I get around 18-20mpg but its lighter than a 22B so slightly quicker and better mpg (flame suit on :D )

.... but not for long ;)
Yeah, would guess so but I've not tested it!
It's not a motorway cruiser for sure. :D
Generally, I don't think many Impreza owners full stop worry about mpg unless it is unusually low with normal useage. :) All range of Imprezas have nightmare stories IIRC about top speed driving. I don't think it is as common in the phase one engine though, well my old MY94 WRX had no issues with being at high revs for long periods of time. :) I could be wrong though. :) As with all high performance etc, careful maintenance and controlled modding will increase longevity of the engines. :) |
i know 80mph is roughly 3750rpm in my P1. Im not 2 concerned about the mpg of the 22B, just didnt want to end up like my mate who recently bought a Tommi Makkinen edition Evo6. averaging 6-8mpg. Not good.

:D Chrisp!
My MY94 STI does 84 at 4000 RPM and is by no means a horror story on the motorways. :) Just feels smooth as silk and the top gear acceleration is amazing. Les [Edited by Leslie - 6/7/2003 10:21:06 AM] |
