I needs some help.
I have a friend who runs a small maintenance company, they are in need of a database that will track calls, parts, engineer costs, outstanding jobs, generate reports and invoices. Anyone have any ideas of a suitable off the self package? What about a custom build databse, what sort of costs would be involved? Any db programmers on here need some a little extra work? :) Paul |
thers a wizard in access2000 that does just this thing, i believe.
might need a bit of customising, depending on number of logins(users) and data type specifics. have you got access2000?? if so, and aren't familiar with it, i'll knock you up the wizard as a access file and you can have a look. ps, i'm not a db guru, just remember doing a similar thing for an asset database and crm for my company, a while back) BB:) |

Thanks for the offer, I wouldn't want to waist you time as they have a basic system already on Access2k, maybe thats how that came about? I have a little db knowledge myself and can see from their specification they want a reasonably well developed package. My guess is there must be an "off the self" to do this sort of thing somewhere there are loads of maintenance companies out there. Paul |
i already wasted it, LOL YHM.
didnt realise they had something already, but just an example of what can be knocked up in 5 mins.... sorry. Dazza |
Cheers again Dazza, I'll have a look anyway

Rich,
Give me a shout next time you're on MSN please Ta |
You didn't say what sort of maintenance work they are doing. however from an IT point of view ...
We use a helpdesk package called ambercat www.ambercat.com which is relatively cheap (approx £1000) and has everything other than the accounting bit... |
