Is there a site where you can input a number plate and see who owns it?

Have tried the DVLA site and Autotrader but nothing doing. :)

AFAIK nope
Can to imagine it you cut someone up and there'd be round your house to give you a tell off ;)

Nicks VR4 05 June 2003 04:36 PM

even worse thought
You have your car loaded up for your jolly holiday in fishguard;)
and then you come home and find your house is empty Arrrgghhhhhh

Good points, well made. :D

Actually I suppose that I could just write to the DVLA and ask them...might be easier... :D

I dont think they would tell you either
privacy act etc etc

The DVLA will tell you for a charge (fiver I think) but you must provide a reasonable explanation for wanting it, like hit and run with witnesses, sold it realising my wedding ring was in the glove box type thing!

Actually, the last excuse is a bit dismal :D

Depends why you want to know. If you want to clober the owner, doubt the DVLA would help, if it's because you want to know if a certain plate is available, well, try here and scroll down to the 'was it issued' section, type in the plate, wham! tells you if the number has been issued
