A friend is currently in training at Hendon to bercome a police officer, yesterday part of their training was to take note that:

Most Subaru drivers are Drug dealers as this is the car they use because the police cars have trouble in keeping up with them.

Nice to know the label us scooby drivers now have and what the police are teaching their new recruits init

p.s. any1 got some pills :D :D :D :D

This libelous statement bought to by the Police Intelligence which is a contradiction in terms anyway.

from experience most dealers drive around in either annonymous vehicles (lagunas, mondeos, etc , hire vehicles or BM's & Mercs, usually a few years old . most with any sense do not draw attention to themselves for obvious reasons. For the ones with little brains nad something to prove - the M3 is the car of choice in metallic purple.

Ram raiders, bank robbers and joy riders drive around in Scoobs (usually not their own) to pay for the drugs they get from the above.

Did they come out with any other gems like all coloured people are robbers or pimps and are after your sister to get her hooked on drugs and on the game, they will also shoot you as soon as look at you.

No wonder they are after speeding motorists, unlikely to catch any real crimonals with theis kind of insight - PAH!

Perhaps their sources of intel are watching Eastenders, Corrie, Brookside and Hollyoakes.

BTW - My local force recently advised owners of prestige/high performance cars to take their car keys to bed to keep them safe after a spate of thiefts

How fecking short sighted and ill informed is that, these are real criminals after big bucks cars, do you think they are going to get to your bedroom door, stop and say 'nah, they are asleep, lets leave them alone'

I called the person who gave this advice, the Community Saftey Officer or such and explaned the other side to this, people being terrified in heir beds by masked people. She stood by their advice to take the keys to bed.

Ironically i do some work for Norhants Police from time to time and i find them to be forward thinking, smart, lateral thinking, very well informed and not into blatent stereotyping - all IMHO

I hope is was just a one off

How do you know the trainer didn't say "A lot of drug dealers drive Subarus because....." and the statement was misconstrued a little by the student?

Anyway... don't slag us all for the short-sightedness of one trainer ffs!

talizman 05 June 2003 11:35 AM

I agree that Scoobies are far too conspicuous a car for a drug dealer to be using.

I think that what we have here is the isolated opinion of ONE plonker, responsible for training at Hendon.

What he said is typically generalising, sterotypical and downright prejudice.

He is probably just jealous beacause HE is the one driving his boring Mondeo or Focus daily, looking like a person trying to blend in to the surroundings. Not unlike a drug dealer.

Personally, where I live, Scoobies do get pulled every day, just like Cosworths and other similar cars, mainly because they are a high theft vehicle. Usually, once plod have ascertained that you are not a crook, and indeed the responsible and respectable owner of a cult motor, they actually are really decent, as usually they are car enthusiasts themselves, hence the interest in Traffic etc.

I try to look on the bright side though; at least if my car gets stolen there is a good chance that it will get noticed and pulled by the Police, unlike an inconspicuous car which could probably drive about under the polices noses without them knowing it could be stolen. It is indeed a "pull-machine"! ;)

Bloody cheek

I'll bet there's been more coppers than Subaru drivers banged up for pedophilia in the last 12 months, should we draw a similarly pathetic sweeping conclusion?

Scoty 05 June 2003 11:54 AM

Nah,

Happens all over the country.

Lets be honest, how hard is the entrance exam!!

"BTW - My local force recently advised owners of prestige/high performance cars to take their car keys to bed to keep them safe after a spate of thiefts"

Paul, over here in Belfast a few months ago 4 hoods broke into some poor souls house and battered him with a hammer then took the keys of his car........

+Doc+ 05 June 2003 12:05 PM

The statement is obvious to me, if you were a thieving drug taking oik who didnt want to get knicked your choice of getaway vehicle would be fast be able to handle etc etc EG. Subaru`s
Its not the first time I`ve heard this statement from a copper either.

According to a local mate, of the 134 Imprezas in my area, 98 have been tailed by Plod on the lookout for drug dealers.

You'd think they'd know better, and go for the 1750 3 series coupes instead :) :) :)

Jza 05 June 2003 01:36 PM

Let me guess... the same dude also said that if theres a black guy driving the car - to definately stop them as its obviously a drug dealer...;)
