If you're one of the dozens of people who still haven't succumbed to the lure of the PlayStation 2, well, there's never been a better time to do so than now.
Anticipating expected price cuts throughout the rest of Europe that supposedly won't be applied to the UK, Play.com has cut the price of the PS2 to £129.99 from a recommended price of £169.99 - a pretty sweet deal.

I noticed that aswell. TXT'ed a m8. Still prefer my Xbox.

Its still expensive when compared to the other two consoles:

Same price as XBOX plus you need to add £20 for the essential memory card - not that competitive really when you consider the better & extra hardware (better graphics, 5.1 dolby plus the hard disk and on-line ready) you get with the MS offering.

Well if you belong to a certain MS group of customers, according to "Computer" magazine, is offering free software and up to 40% off for company staff to purchase MS software and parts - except the Xbox - that sucks. An Xbox for sub 100 quid would have rocked.

Might have something to do with releasing a Phase2 PS2.
They've managed to put all the chips onto one and will include a HDD for recording TV programmes....

The PSX?
I reckon they've be dropping the prices massivly before the launch of that.
I agree on the overpricing though, PS2 is much more expensive compared to the Xbox or Gamecube, that the main thing that puts me off (that and I don't think my girlfriend would appreciate me playing on the PS2, Xbox, GC, and dreamcast)

New X-Box 1.5 on the way too apparently, with a smaller case.
