My missus (in her infinite wisdom)has decided she wants a Polaroid camera, but she wants to take black and white photos with it. Does anyone know anything about Polaroid cameras - which one would be good to buy (second hand!), whether you can buy black and white film, and where's the best (for best, read cheapest) place to buy films?

Thanks in advance,

Roy.

I borrowed one from work, when I gave it back the girl on reception said,"you could have cleaned the baby oil off it" :o

Polaroid cameras only used for one thing, and thats not just instant pictures:).

You asked for advice - Just buy a digital camera instead !

Already got one and a nice photo printer, just wondered if anyone still used/knew about polaroids.

For the wife you understand :)

YOu can still buy the cameras.. not sure about b&w film... The films are expensive and the prints are very small.. Polaroid cameras have limited functionality and allow you to do little in the way of exposure control.. The only way to get around this is buy a medium format system with a polariod back... mega bucks for a sh!t picture...

The only good/ creative thing is smearing the emulsion before it has time to dry.. some interesting effects.. IMHO stick with the digital and spend some time learning PHotoshop...
