I'm thinking of getting an old Landrover Discovery Tdi as a second car for towing and off road days etc, plus maybe the daily plod to work. I have full (11yrs) NCD on my Sti V but all the insurers seem to have come to a cozy little arrangement where you can only use it on one car at a time - even though it is the driver that has the claim free record!

Has anyone been given their NCD on a second car or a big discount of any other description for a second vehicle?

Tesco my scooby insurer said they included 30% NCD in their quote but it was still nearly £650 You'd think they'd be glad to get me out of the scooby and into something slow :) ?!

Liverpool Victoria are best so far with £548 but it still seems very high. They gave std unlimited mileage (no discount for limiting it) and class 1 business use, courtesy car etc though which is something.

Help and advice most appreciated!

Cheers,

Eric.

The subaruinsured site says "2nd car policies available" - go to www.subaru.co.uk, choose the subaru insured button and scroll down the list of benefits.

Worth a shot

For a policy like this you should call a Broker, they deal with companies that have a scheme which suits your requirements. Two insurance companies I know of are Groupama and Zurich.
Some Brokers numbers are listed in the link below.

Try hill house hammond, they were the best on my second car, you loose the discount on your first car though if your with lv, dont go to churchill though, they just took the p155 big style  (1800 quid tpft on a 1000 quid mondeo, me 34, no accidents).

Sureterm direct 428 and Firebond 404 (if on drive 967! on road). Both of those are Landrover specialists and on 6000miles a year about 60quid more for 10K.

Thanks for the other companies you mentioned. I'll give them a go too though it looks like 404 is very competetive.
