mate has a mr2 jap import n it was f***ed til he ran it on optimax apparentely jap imports run on bout 100 ron fuel optimax is 98ron n super unleaded is bout 96ron so i'd be using optimax maybe with octane booster

i have had my 93 turbo legacy re mapped by collins and they said the same and on all scoobys they can make as much as 8 bhp on a rolling road

Sounds right to me ;)
Super unleaded is 97 Ron and optimax 98. something. Its recomended to use optimax and octane booster to try and reach an octane level of 100ish. If you dont use the octane booster you will end up like me. Having to spend £700 to fix your car, and I did all the work myself:rolleyes: so you can imagine the bill if you had it done for you. Use booster and optimax or you will melt a piston/smash a ring etc etc

Good info ronnie - i have been checking out what fuel to use to use for my MY95 which hasnt arrived yet and after loads of people saying you must use octane booster with optimax i gues i will have to, what do you normally do? - put in half / full tank with Optimax

i guess you cant just sling in a £5 or £10 amount of petrol like i do in my Corsa SRi!

cheers!

I use NF race, and add the octane booster as a percentage of the fuel I put in (i.e. if tank is 3/4 empty, I use 75mls and top the tank right up, if half empty, then I use 50mls and fill the tank up) This is not an exact science, and I generally overdose on the above (better to be safe than sorry!

I'm a bit suspicous of a company chipping a car & coming back from a run & saying "that's detting"... I'd rather hope that the chipping should be set so it doesn't det!
Still, Optimax + booster is the way to go, whatever!
