...these pop up ads that appear out of nowhere and look like standard Windows messages have started popping up on my home computer when surfing the net... It doesnt happen at work cos of firewalls and such like, but is there any FREE way to kill these at home? [I am NOT paying to buy something to stop me getting something I dont even want!!!]

Mj - you're a star, and to think that companies send me pop ups offering to load software to do just that for $29. CHEEEERS!

Disabling the messenger facility is nothing to do with MSN Messenger.
I was plagued by these pop-ups for ages and disabling messenger sorted it:D
There are programs for sale out there, circa $20, that do nothing more than disable the messenger tool:roilleyes:

I'll email you an invoice :D

Paul is right...

MSN Messenger is NOT related to the Messenger service that Windows NT / 2000 / XP has built in.

If you are getting Messenger Service popups then your PC isn't secure and you should look at getting some sort of firewall installed ASAP.
