Sell it :)

bluenosewrx 27 May 2003 01:10 PM

thanks for that!!!!!

Johnny50 27 May 2003 02:43 PM

I take it the missus isn't allowed to use it when you're away ?

bluenosewrx 27 May 2003 02:55 PM

johhny she cant drive and i would not let her anyway,no chance i'd rather leave it at sighthill shops ,it'd be safer

Johnny50 27 May 2003 03:00 PM

Oh dear.

I take it you've not got a lockup then ?

bluenosewrx 27 May 2003 03:22 PM

got a large heated hanger at work, but you have to leave your keys tied to the steering wheel incase of fire ,and no way do i want to do that,if i just leave it the trackstar and alarm will go dead so it could be then taken,i might try one of the solar trickle chargers and lock the car up but i dont know if that would work for that period of time!.some of the car storage ppl want £60 a month basic so thats why i'm asking here .dont want to sell it either.

Johnny50 27 May 2003 03:28 PM

If i had a garage mate you could use that but i dont ! (useless eh)

Still £60 per month is better than floggin it !

mike16v 27 May 2003 04:31 PM

You don't know me but I'm a nice guy really and I'd run it for you for 5 months :D

bluenosewrx 27 May 2003 05:18 PM

cheers mike ,just give me your adress and i'll even drop it off for you with a full tank of petrol and enough money to run it for 5 months ,you seem like a really nice guy ,why can't everyone be as thoughtful as you .bye.

Jools 27 May 2003 05:25 PM

You could leave it with the Inverurie gang in Aberdeenshire at no cost and it would be looked after. It would not need to be run or used. I look after a P1 almost half the year as it is and I'm sure we could find somewhere to store it if required.

Most of us know first hand the feeling of being away and what it means to have a car somewhere safe.

calibragaz 27 May 2003 06:23 PM

rent it out for 5 months . im sure someone would be happy to rent a scooby

bluenosewrx 27 May 2003 08:34 PM

thanks for the suggestions BUT:
1.not selling it
2.not renting it out.
3.not giving it to anyone to look after that i don't know/trust.
cheers.

Scooby Dooby Blue 28 May 2003 08:01 AM

So why not give it to someone you do know/trust?

Seems to me you're being a bit anal about what is ultimately just a car.

Waterside Classics in Rutherglen, Glasgow operate a storage service for everything from Scoobies to Ferrari's. I have a car stored there at present. Costs £100 a month.

bluenosewrx 28 May 2003 10:52 AM

Scooby Dooby Blue.it may be just a car IYHO.It has taken me 6 years to save up for my subaru and all the ppl i trust are funnily enough going to iraq with me(i hope).and if i thought it of just a car i would have no hesitation on selling it.but thanks for your input.i reckon it will go in storage.ROLL ON NOV

Jools 28 May 2003 02:10 PM

Maybe next time you should consider starting your post with your 3 point criteria mentioned above. Also I would suggest you try and decipher/identify genuine offers of help when they come your way; you did ask for help and advice remember...;)

Success with getting the car looked after down your way.

bluenosewrx 28 May 2003 02:38 PM

jools i'm not having a dig at you mate,i dont even know you thanks for the offer though, thanks to everyone who replied .SUBJECT NOW CLOSED.

AlanG 28 May 2003 03:07 PM

Subject not closed...

If you're leaving the car in a known secure location, then don't worry about alarm/Trackstar and disconnect the battery.
Also, a good idea to make sure you leave the handbrake off to stop the shoes binding and place a section of wood between clutch pedal and seat to stop clutch binding on flywheel. i.e. pedal to floor.

If the car is not so secure, these solar trickle chargers are fine, subject to light input and will help in maintaining the main battery on the car which in turn ensures the car alarm back up battery is kept topped up as these tend to drain the main battery (albeit over a long period of time)

Hope this helps

Alan

alan g you are a star!just the relpy i wanted .many thanks .i'll get the wheels in motion so to speak.
