ChristianR 25 May 2003 10:19 PM

I purchased my current subaru (sti iv type-r) in June 1999, imported it myself from Japan. I was 18 at the time, my 19th Birthday wasn't until August 12th 1999.

I did wait a while before I modded it, as it had already came down from Japan with a Monster Sport replacement air-filter and a Monster Sport Muffler.

I believe I started to modify the car from its existing state in April 2001. Changed the exhaust system (hks hyper), and induction kit (hks racing suction kit), and a few months later the turbo and a the ecu (link). Late October 2001, started on the next project - 2.5litre :)

I am now 22, the 2.5litre project is just about finally finished - even more things that I didn't antipate have changed on the car... I guess the only thing that is still standard, apart from the interior, is just the shell.

Lots of money spent on the car, but it is all worth it. Even though I do live on an island that is only 12miles by 9, and a top speed of 40mph! :D

Insurance does cost a lot though :(

stevenuk300 25 May 2003 10:20 PM

I was 23 when I bought my UK300 new. Does that make me the youngest Scooby owner to but new????
Insurance was £1500 and only gone down to £1100 now I'm 25.

prodrive1 25 May 2003 11:20 PM

Nope, sorry. My brother lives in the States. He's turning 16 in November. His 2.5l(!) (MY04? 05?) WRX STi will be there to welcome him. Lucky !@#$@#

M0NEY 26 May 2003 11:36 AM

Siwrx, you have to come to a Surrey meet mate or convoy with us to SOuthend. I want to see your 2.2 beast! Any power readings yet???

Christian R - we all know how mad you are already :D Damn nice car though.

Triple 6 - 22b, luck git! Just turned 22 a couple of days ago and had MY95 wrx for 6 months. Getting bored of it already though! Think its time for something a bit more aggressive like an evo :D :D

prodrive1 26 May 2003 12:16 PM

zoomzoom

prodrive1

ADP 26 May 2003 01:43 PM

So how much are you under 20 year olds paying then??

Ball park figure is ok if you really dont want to give the game away!

I can understand how you can have a scooby at 17, all you need is an ok job that will allow you to borrow enough money for the car and the insurance. job done!
