Just picked up my MY97 WRX from the docks.
As a sport driver for 2 years, and on SNET for a year or so,
have read articles comparing sports to turbos.
Yea turbos better acceleration, sports keep up in the twisties etc etc.
When i fired it up first time , it seamed like it was trembling waiting to be let go. (or was it my knees knocking)
All i can say is , sorry i dont think you can compare it to a sport(and i like my sport). ABSOLUTELY AWESOME.
Its got an aftermarket jap box, which i didnt realise.
Its bl**dy huge. I reckon i could fit a grapefruit in it.
Sorry for wittering, just had to tell someone. :D

nice one

how about sharing some details
how much?
from where?
whats the spec?

Foot_Tapper 23 May 2003 06:30 PM

Only have some of the spec. Havnt had chance for a really good nose
(had it transported to my garage for SVA etc).

WRX GC8D48D, reg Dec 96, 38k miles.
Total price may probably be about what you would pay someone here
second hand, as a private sale.Certainly not a dealer.
But you may not find many here with only 38k miles.
I think its phase 3 (is this correct??)power, 280 ps.
straight intercooler, facelift front.
Only 16", but i'm not too worried about that.
Looks like it may have aftermarket suspension of some description,
as original struts n springs are in the boot.
Hopefully standard down pipe and centre exhaust with cats,
(for my sva). But the backbox is big. I'll take a pic or 2 tomorrow

Nardi wheel (air bag one in boot), alloy (i think) gear shift,
Boost gauge, turbo timer.

Couple of bits of mine to go on.
Morrettes, knock & lamda links, earthing mod.

havent had time to look properly, will have a good nose tomorrow.

Oh, just to add, straight from jap auctions

Congrats I noticed a big difference from a Uk turbo to Japanese import and that was only about 70bhp. It must be nearly 150bhp for you :D.
