Well after the wife writing off my STI8 with only 2600 miles on the clock, I took delivery of another one Wednesday just gone.

A big thank you to Tescos Insurance for sorting it out so quickly and giving me the full brand new retail value. Also Triangle of Chesterfield for sourcing me another one and saving it until the insurance gave me the nod.

Ok so it`s the same as before, but I`ve had mudflaps. The STI mudflaps are now discontinued so I had the ones in blue with the yellow SCOOBY logos on, they look well smart better than the STI`s me thinks. The front ones are massive and look the part. Oh, and the Blue Prodrive gear knob.

I`ll try and take some pics with the flaps, `cause they do look good with the yellow logos on.

So here we go again running it in for a 1000 miles, but this time I know what to expect so I`m not in a massive rush.

Hope this 1 lasts longer than the last 1 :D

NACRO 23 May 2003 11:42 AM

Will you let her drive it again?

I know I would have to let my girlfriend do that but the question is what if she does it again, even if it's not her fault!

Good luck fella

I had the No Claims Protection 5 YRS. ( well worth it!!!)

Will the claim put up my insurance next year, if so how much do you people think. I now pay £1180.00

Although they did tell me a claims a claim whether it`s £500 or £50000.

Ciaran 23 May 2003 12:21 PM

yes as u said a claim is a claim no matter what the value.
so if ur ever crash and its not that bad do it again so u get another car!!

did u have protection on your no claims?

Old_Fart 23 May 2003 12:30 PM

Your insurance will go up regardless of the protected no claims..so you keep the discount but the 'base' cost will be higher. Couldn't say how much though. Not sure 'a claims a claim' either...they will assess the accident and a total right-off with no mitigating factors will mean a much higher loading than a new bumper from backing into a lamppost.
Glad you've got the car back though, enjoy it.
Chuck

Yeah as I said I had protection on my 5 yrs

DJB 23 May 2003 02:37 PM

Yes there's two aspects to the next year's premium after a claim. The first is NCB which in your case will not change. The other factor is your overall risk based on address, car type, and in your case accident history. The latter will add considerable weighting to the premium and I would guess an increase of around £2-300.

Well if that`s correct i`ll stand to that.

Don`t want to have to sell the scooby, just `cause of the insurance.

SU3ARU 23 May 2003 02:48 PM

Glad you got another one so soon, must be a nightmare having to go through the run in ordeal twice in the space of a couple of months :(

Why dont you go on to Tescos and simulate the new info and see - i.e. enter your proper details but add the accident in and see what they quote you? That way you'll know pretty much exactly rather than asking people to guess.

ADP 23 May 2003 03:01 PM

bet she dont drive this one ;)

forest172 23 May 2003 03:15 PM

Tried it on tescos website and when you get to the end bit there`s a problem with the website.

forest172 23 May 2003 03:24 PM

Just managed to do it on the tesco`s website and yes, it makes a £125 difference. Not bad really is it?

TonyBurns 23 May 2003 04:15 PM

Id also say around 300 quid, what you get now isnt accurate as they change their minds about these things over the course of a year so id plan for the above ammount (which isnt bad for getting another 26k car is it ;))

Nice one Forest172

Don't forget to bring it to the next meet !

Is it WR blue again ? Hurry up and post a piccy as I would like to see the mud flaps

Steve

Lunchie 23 May 2003 06:30 PM

So how many days did it take between the accident and the new car? Seem pretty quick..

Are Tescos always this good - reports I've heard are generally good and I was insured with them last year.

Have your neighbours noticed the new car?

Hel 23 May 2003 08:31 PM

Forester 172. Did you pay for your flaps and gearknob or did you get them thrown in for buying two cars so soon? Would like to see pic of flaps on car as they sound like the ones the dealers going to show me when my car arrives.

chrisp 23 May 2003 08:50 PM

Dont forget that claim is with you for 3 years and a life has gone on your no claims protection as most tend to be 2 claims in three years protected and stays with you no matter which company you are with.

forest172 24 May 2003 09:33 AM

Steve - Yeah it`s WR Blue again i`ll take a photo, then e-mail you, what`s your address? (could you host them for me?) I did have the choice of a silver one but didn`t like the blue interior with the silver car.

Lunchie - Tesco`s acted really fast, I have recieved the cheque this morning for the car and they settled the finance. It just meant i had to find £13000 for a couple of days. So, I could buy my new one.

Hel - I had the flaps thrown in and paid for the gearknob.
