What else can I say but.......All the best Celtic.
Hope the Bhoys give a good showing for the sake of scottish football. |

|

2-1 Porto |
Go Celtic go. :D
Come on boys. :D |
Never liked Celtic so my moneys on Porto;)
|
Unbelieveable by the Porto goalie!!! I would have cautioned him for that blatant dive!!!!!
|
Bad luck Celtic.
Well done Porto. Great game, with some terrible challenges on both sides!!!! |
How can you say that & you of all people not comment on the referee.
He was an absolute joke & should have booked the Porto players for diving, timewasting & wasting time over celebrating at least 2 goals |
Hmm the Ref certainly wasnt in control of that game!
|
*** conspiracy ***
I think that he was in perfect control |
Going to bed now to cry on my big pillow.
|
Given the fact that I am starting to take my refereeing seriously and have joined professional bodies in the footballing world, I am refraining from making too much negative comment.
You may think I am being ridiculous on a BBS such as Scoobynet, but I do not want to be seen to be actively dissing referees who are at a higher level than me and earnt their right to referee such matches. No matter how badly in anybody's opinion they may or may not have performed during the match. I did raise my eyebrows on several occasions whilst the match was being played. |
Some of the Porto players deserved an Oscar, not a winners medal!
|
Yeah Michelle - you gotta 'play their game'
How sad |
Please don't think that I am getting uppety with your answer but this is how I see it.
As an amateur and relative to the FIFA referees, not as epxerienced as they are, I am no longer prepared to speak out as verbally as I have done in the past. I do feel a sense of comradeship to them, it doesn't mean that I agree with their decisions or such. I now have to be seen to be adopting a professional attitude as a referee. No matter what level I am at. Don't see my lack of comment as a reflection on my own game, you do not know my style of refereeing or know how I react in different situations and scenarios. For one referee's shortcomings, don't tar us all with the same brush and assume we are all the same. Sorry, if I have looked too much into your post. :) |
Fair doos, I'm sure you would have intersting comments to make - 'off the record'
It is just a shame that proffesional players think that it is acceptable to behave in such a way. And UEFA seem to condone such behavior by awarding the Porto no. 11 the MOTM. He was rolling about the ground 4 times ffs. In the last World cup they were supposed to be clamping down against play acting etc. |
Shug, you are very much correct with the off the record remark. ;)
We referees need to be clamping down on this type of behaviour - it is covered under Law 12 , cautionable offence number one: Unsporting behaviour. Sometimes, you slip up, you don't see it happen. Remember that in order to penalise a player the referee or the assistant referee have to be absolutely positive of what they saw before penalising. |
Here in the Scottish Premier league the refs are sponsored by Specsavers.
Inspired or what Anyway what is done is done, no use cryin etc & by the way I am not a Celtic fan - I just think that it is a shame that some players think that it is acceptable to 'cheat' & feel alright to accept their medal. |
Porto players play-acted shamelessly (but thats what footballers do!)...then again the Celtic players were dirty and cynical throughout all of the game
