I presently have a Palm based PDA but will be changing shortly to a Compaq IPAQ PDA which is pocket windows 2002 based. Is it possible to import all my diary entries, memos, lists etc from Palm Desktop to my new PDA?

Not easily. One way is to sync with Outlook (using something like Pocket Mirror) from your Palm before you cutover to the iPAQ.

BTW - I got a freebie iPAQ 5450 (or something) from work. Lasted 5 days before I went back to my Palm :)

some thoughts,

CSV export from Palm desktop, import into Outlook then you should be ok.

You can IR beam from Palm to IPAQ

Or search a few sites like mine http://www.pocketpcsoft.net or MS's http://www.pocketpc.com

Are you currently using Outlook, if so it should just work?

Otherwise most programs allow you to export into CSV (comma seperated value) which you can then import into the ipaq equivalent desktop program.

But most ipaq things, ie calendar, notes, tasks, contacts, email all come with outlook and sync out of the box.

Have just done this for a mate, as recommended above, just sync to Outlook from the Palm and then back to the iPAQ.

Even if you don't use Outlook, it is supplied free with the iPAQ on the ActiveSync disk, so it shouldn't be an issue.

My experiences in doing it recently:

1. You might need to fiddle with the settings in the Palm sync to ensure all your databases are synced into Outlook Contacts. The person I did it for had multiple Data folders on the Palm for each type of contacts, and I had to sync these one by one into Contacts.

2. When you've got your contacts and appointments successfully into Outlook, be aware that the default for Appointment sync to the iPAQ is something like 1 week back and 1 month forward. Initially you'll probably want to sync _ALL_ appointments to get your whole diary across, and then you can change it back to a couple of weeks back and a couple of months forward to speed up the sync?

HTH,

Alex

P.S. As I said, I did this recently, so if you need any more help, just ask...
